Ann and Tom both gone. Gossip away. You know you want too. When does the Track flip, and to what format?

I feel bad for Tom, but I was never much of a fan of Ann. (rhyme not intended :D) I don't think it matters much what they flip to...they're never going to make much of a dent in Indy ratings...the top 5-6 are going to stay pretty much the same.

My handy dandy DomainTools.com (which allows me to search for newly-registered domains by keywords or numbers) tells me something interesting. The following domains have ALL been registered to an Indy address. I'm not in Indy, but maybe someone in the market knows the addy these lead to... is it Entercom's building?

Keyword "1079" with registrant in "State:Indiana"
There are 5 domains that match your query:

POWER1079.COM
1079JAMZINDY.COM
SMOOTH1079.COM
1079THEOASIS.COM
TRUEOLDIES1079.COM

Just thought I'd share...

I doubt they go with Oldies,, but I wouldnt be surprised if they go Urban or Smooth Jazz... Its about time that WHHH had another Hip Hop station to compete with, and since 107.9 is alot more powerful signal, they might knock WHHH down a few pegs... WHHH plays too many Slow Jamz for my liking. If 107.9 would be all Hip Hop without the obscure Ballads, and throw in some Dance-Pop just to be more mass appeal.. It could happen. I dont think they will go CHR, cause if Entercom wanted a CHR they would run WZPL like one.....

Smooth Jazz..... Remember back in the days of WTPI,, they played all Smooth Jazz at night,, called Night Breeze, so this is also very possible.

Calls WSMJ or WYJZ available. Just in case Jazz is back...

Yeah, its definately a format hole... I remember when 107.1, 100.9, and 107.9 (during nights) were all playing Smooth Jazz at the same time.... From what I understood 100.9 was making money,,, just not as much as what a CHR would make, so they revived Radio Now WNOU.....

I get the track here in Cincinnati sometimes I'll be listening for the flip. I hope they add a webcast this time for the stastion.

WOW,, you can hear The Track over in Cinci??? Are you actually inside the metro area, or just on the outlying western Suburbs? We cant get any of the Cinci stations here in Indy anymore,,, way back in the day we used to get Q-102 up here in the 80s and early 90s before WKLU signed on that frequency, we also used to get 94.1,,,Then called Wink 94,, I even managed to pull in 97.7 WOXY one night during a really strong tropo, and i have heard WARM 98.5 along I-65 about 30 miles south of Indy, this was back before the dial got so clogged up,, not to mention all the man made static and noise from Computers and Broadband lines, plus Iboc Hash and so fourth...

Yes, all are registered to Entercom Indianapolis. However, they could also be a decoy for the 107.9fm in Sacramento. But nobody could be that clever, right?

107.9 here in Sac is very successful. I highly doubt any format/moniker changes will be coming to that station for a long time.

I live close to the ohio river like 10 minutes away in Delhi on top of a big hill. Its usally after lets say 12:am that it will start fadiing in somes so good sounds like a local. I get alot of indy stations. I have even got Fiox 59's digital station 59.1 in Cincinnati also Ion 63.1-.4 several times as if they where a local..

Jocks leaving, website's down... Where will the Wheel O' Format land?

False alarm. As of 5pm, all the Entercom station sites are down.

Yes, I knew it was coincidence when ZPL's site was down, too. It's back up now. I still think a new format will be in place by lunch on Tuesday.

What I have heard is that the replacements already work for Entercom in Indy. Is someone moving from WZPL or WXNT?

So if 107.9 does flip, we pretty much have the format possibilitys narrowed down...RIGHT...

Its either gonna be

Urban-Rhythmic... One or the other... Both formats are 90 percent Hip Hop anyway.. If they pick one of these formats, then look for WZPL to be even more Adult Friendly so they dont canabalize each other.

True Oldies... I wouldnt mind having an oldies station that played some of the older pre 64 Beatles stuff....

Smooth Jazz--- Not really my cup of tea, but it is a viable format hole, probably would do good on the fairly powerful 107.9 Signal... Heck, they already have the processing set for it. In fact if I had to put money on what it would flip to, I would put my money on Smooth Jazz, simply because no one is doing it, and 100.9 was doing just fine before Radio One blew it up.... Also, Smooth Jazz targets the money demo....... As a listener I would rather have another Rhythmic-Urban format, but as a businessman, I would go with Smooth Jazz if I wanted to maximize my profit.

Any other ideas of formats that could end up at 107.9, or are the 3 formats I mentioned above pretty much the only feasible formats for this market?
