Thanks man! I'm trying hard to inject some new life into this format with vocals it has rarely if ever seen. Some really like it, others, well...you know...it's a work in progress ;) I expected that. But I think some of the New Wave stuff definitely works, particularly deeper cuts. Thomas Dolby has some terrific stuff that I worked seamlessly into the program, as well as The Pet Shop Boys. I have been pleasantly surprised with how well the early 80s New Wave stuff has worked. The AAA stuff is working out nicely as well. I have been closely monitoring my stats and guys are still listening after these cuts roll out, which is a good sign. In time, I will be weeding out the laidback 70s cuts, but I am going to try to keep some of the AOR in there. The next challenge is getting guys to buy into some of the current Pop/Rock vocals. Tougher sell, for sure. But if I can go deep and find those cuts with more of that AAA vibe and less Pop-sounding, I think I can pull it off. Thanks again for the feedback, and thanks for listening!!! The new website I have been working on looks great and should be up in a week or so.

Peace,

Chris

I have been listening on my cell phone while I'm out sometimes and the music mix is pretty good Chris. A lot better selection than some of the other stations that are out there. Looking foward to the new site. : )

So glad you have been taking advantage of the AudioNow feature, Jazz_Kat. :) It really is a nice option for those who cannot afford a mobile data plan, have spotty service in there area, or no Internet at home. As a reminder for the rest of the board, you can pull in the station with your mobile or landline phone by simply dialing 443-261-3113. The sound quality is better than you might think. Have a great weekend, gang! Hope to have the new website up very soon.

Hey gang. I regret to say the website update is taking longer than I would have liked. It has been a crazy couple of weeks, and I just haven't had the time to put on the finishing touches. I hope I can do that over the weekend, but I am sure something will come up...it ALWAYS does. :D I also have been experiencing a number issues with the stream provider for my iTunes (64K AAC+) stream of late (multiple dropouts), and I am looking at another provider. In the meantime, I may go back to 128K mp3 only, because that provider's uptime has been exceptional. Remember, for those who pull me in on iTunes, there are always other options on the LoudCity tune in page. You can always get the 128K stream there with the WinAmp player. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Not a problem for me AC. 8) Doesn't seem like there's never enough hours in a day, always something happening. I'm sure you will get it done soon and it will look good. :)

Hey guys. Be advised that neither iTunes or AudioNow has yet to update my new stream server details. I saw several 1-minute calls to the AudioNow number yesterday, and I suspect you got some dead air after the intro. I like to think you can tolerate the stream for more than a minute. :D In any event, AudioNow has been notified of this and hopefully they will implement the change shortly. iTunes, on the other hand, has a tendency to drag their feet with these changes. TuneIn Radio fortunately has gotten the memo and already implemented the change. As you all know, I have had a ton of problems with the AAC+ server lately (buffering issues and dropouts), and I figured enough was enough. So I am going back to 128kbps mp3 and with a provider who has been reliable since Day 1. I have to tell you, audiowise, it sounds better than any stream I have ever had running. For those with smartphones, here is the new streaming URL:

Enjoy your Sunday!!!!

Yeah, we are definitely good to go with AudioNow. The stream is running a little hot right now...pretty typical with 128kbps mp3 streams. The bass can be a bit overpowering at times. I'll be playing around with the settings to find the sweet spot. At least no more dropouts or buffering issues. :) Don't think iTunes has yet to make the change , but I have updated the Loudcity tune in page with the new streaming links. Need to update it to make it compatible with browsers other than IE. The good news is, I am ALMOST done with the overhaul of the website. It will be basic, but clean with a modern look.

Sorry to spam, guys. But the link I provided above is for my Icecast mount point. Technically, you can get to the new stream from there, but it requires another mouse click, and the interface is awful. You are better off going with the TuneIn Radio app, or opening the .pls file with your default media player. Here is the new .pls file. FYI, the iTunes server is STILL active while I am waiting for the iTunes Radio folks to update my listing:

You are not bothering me with your posts. 8) It is a thread about your station and your listeners, I think you can post as much updates as you want. ;D 8)

Checked out the new site, http://www.wavjazz.net/ it looks very nice and clear. I think you done a great job. :)

I meant to say, post as many updates as you want. ;D Way too much on my mind these days. :D ;D

My buddy Chris, must have been working on the call in part of the station Saturday, tried to call and couldn't through. No worries. ;D He been a hard working man here lately with the site.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. A couple quick updates. The AudioNow issue has been resolved. They did not update the new streaming URL. Also, the station e-mail server problem has also been resolved. Hit me up at [email protected] and say Hi! Finally, iTunes updated the streaming URL and my listing. Unfortunately, for those used to seeing me in the "W" section next to that former LA-based terrestrial radio giant that plays "who knows what these days" ;), I am NOW listed under "Jazz" in the "N" section as "A New .wav"---and for those who use Reciva and have Reciva Internet radios, I am now in their radio directory as well. The iTunes issue has been an inconvenience for many, and has cost me a ton of listening hours over the last few weeks. Fortunately, now that is behind me as well. One more thing---for those of you in the market for a new Ford, I'll be in select models courtesy of Ford's SYNC technology and Stitcher. The station can be found under "Internet Radio", and by zip code. Soon, the Ford SYNC directory will also list stations by genre. That is ALL for now, my friends. Have a great week!!! :)

Lots of great news Chris. Thanks for the update. :) I like the contact feature, nice to put a face with the name. 8) (I mean that in a good way) Have a good week buddy. 8)

Just a quick update and a reminder, guys. You can now follow the station on Twitter at "wavjazzdotnet" for important updates. Also, iTunes listeners, be advised that the station is now listed in Jazz in the "N" section under "A New .wav", and that the streaming URL has changed. I have gotten a number of e-mails from folks asking why they cannot find me on iTunes or why they cannot tune in with their default player. Sorry again for the inconvenience, but I was very displeased with the performance of my old stream provider.

Wow at 128 kbps now on iTunes. Cool!!!!!

Everything was fine, until I heard Taylor Swift.

So I turned to this: http://www.cjazzchannel.com/

Otherwise, great channel.

I think I have only three Taylor Swift cuts in the entire rotation, but for some reason, guys tune in at the precise time one of them is playing. :D Oh well. She is a rather polarizing artist, so I am not surprised about the negative feedback. But ANY kind of feedback is good, and that tells me you guys are listening. And if those three cuts make guys tune out and keep them from coming back, then they are not worth spinning---simply as that.

OK, my friends. I HAVE heard you. A couple of my trusted listeners on this board told me they had received e-mails over the past few weeks wondering WTH I was trying to accomplish with the new vocals. I guess they didn't have the heart to criticize the programming directly, and I respect that. But suffice it to say, it was a complete disaster with the guys who have been with me from the start--my bread and butter listeners. I became the guy I vowed never to become---someone who looked to grow his audience at any cost with little or no regard to his base. Never again. If I want to experiment, it will be on the other stream. Only time will tell whether or not this format will ultimately survive on the Internet. But in the meantime, it's good to be back! :) BTW, an ALL NEW Chilled Excursions with Angelica airs tonight at 11:00PM Eastern. Hope you can join us!

Aww, does this mean no more Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Thomas Dolby, Real Life, National, Submarines, etc? :(

Oh well. I guess that was too good to expect too many people to latch onto. I'll still be a listener! :)

Glad to hear that, Radical! :) I don't think folks were as averse to the New Wave 80s stuff as they were to the current Pop/Rock and AAA. But I do think it was a case of too much too soon. My listeners are VERY loyal but also VERY fickle about what they like. And since I recruited them based on an instrumental-heavy presentation, I have to be sensitive to that. In time, I will start to work back in The Pet Shop Boys and more underplayed 80s New Wave stuff, as I agree with you 100% that it has a place in this format as a change of pace. So your patience will be rewarded! ;D

Sorry to bring this up so late:
"You are better off going with the TuneIn Radio app, or opening the .pls file with your default media player.

Or just put the URL http://184.154.145.114:8032/stream (yes, including the "/stream" argument at the end) directly into your VLC. No downloading "apps" necessary. (Those things are usually full of spyware anyways.) Incidentally, I have that IP address mapped to "stream.wavjazz.net" in my hosts file. Makes it easier to remember, anyways. ;o)
