The "Whitney" Thread

It looks like NBC has been hyping this new show from Ms. Cummings, and they're milking her in more ways than one. If anything, she could be this year's "30 Rock," but I doubt she'll save the Thursday Night lineup.

A strange thing is-It's a CBS show (With a laugh track) on NBC, and as of late NBC has sitcoms with no laugh tracks. And also ABC has a new show coming out, "Last Man Standing" which stars Tim Allen and I believe the laugh track/live studio audience is also coming back on ABC, as well.

This show is on my CHECKOUT list, so I will do that and see if it delivers. It must
debut next week......don't see it on the 9:30 NBC Thursday for this week.

I think Whitney Cummings is talented, funny, and...well...more than a little easy on the eyes. But that doesn't necessarily mean her show will be worth a pitcher of warm spit. We won't know until tomorrow night, will we?

Watched the pilot tonight and the show was great! The writing was excellent! I will be watching it next week for sure. This is one of the best sitcoms that have debuted recently IMO.

Good thing I DVR it! One gets the feeling that with "2 Broke Girls" and "Whitney" under her belt, there's a safe bet that this will be Ms. Cummings' year.

I watched most of it last night, in between cooking some dinner, and I thought it was an okay show that has some potential. I do think that Whitney (as a person) is very witty, and like Lkeller mentioned, she is easy on the eyes. She appears a guest a couple of times a year on The Howard Stern Show, and other than a few appearances on the recent Comedy Central Roasts, that's where I only know her from.

Usually, any series that I'm interested in, I'll give it a three-episode test (sometimes a fourth). If my interest doesn't peak after that third (or fourth) episode, then I'm done and I'll move to the next show.

I wasn't particularly impressed, but I like Whitney enough to try the show a couple more times. It's pretty common for shows to improve in the weeks after the pilot.

I find laugh-tracks really intrusive, and it's worse now because most of the comedy shows I like don't have them. They made a point of announcing that the show is taped before a studio audience, but I'd bet $5 that they "sweeten" those live responses considerably.

I think it's actually pretty cool that NBC is going back to sitcoms, especially a sitcom that's a little more edgy than what you'd see on CBS. But The X Factor has certainly been taking a toll on the NBC comedies.

I wasn't that impressed either but will give it a couple more trys to get better.

The guys who plays her husband doesn't seem like a "likely" match for her.

Yeah, "Mike and Molly" appears to target the "Full House" crowd. And "Two and a Half Men"--why, that should be paired with "Hannah Montana" or "That's So Raven".

NBC? What's that?

The NBC I remember died about the same time Tom Brokaw took over for John Chancellor on NBC Nightly News. Since then, about the only NBC show I watch is "Sunday Night Football." And then only infrequently since John Madden retired.

After seeing two episodes Whitney appears to be some kind of twenty-something dating
show made for twenty-somethings. I will not be watching this junk anymore.
