The Wolf to stop howling?

That's what I'm hoping for too!

"Fly" is a pretty common name for hip hop throwback stations, but I think the better business decision is to include at least some current music. Maybe it launches as a throwback station and slowly adds current music after launch? And yes, I'd love to see some Dance music!
There's currently only two stations in the Country utilizing the "Fly" brand. CHR "Fly 92" WFLY Albany NY and Rhythmic CHR "Fly 98.5" WFFY Fort Myers. Neither are or ever were Classic Hip Hop.

"Flo 107.1" KFCO Denver was briefly "Fly 107.1" when it launched in 2014, but a C&D forced them to swiftly rebrand.
Also, WGTZ in Eaton/Dayton was once called Fly, with an adult hits format.

In addition to KFCO as you mention, the two largest radio companies in America each have national classic hip hop stations.

.....named Fly.

Sirius XM Fly - '90s & 2000s Hip-Hop/R&B
IHeart's Fly Nation Radio - Hip Hop Classics (also airs on KGGI-HD2)

And "Fly" in Albany is a kaick-back to a well known CHR from the 70's, isn't it? And heritage calls in the market, being the initials of a local newspaper publisher IIRC.

So in that market, the calls are heritage and the name comes from those calls, not from hip hop.

It appears that WOTW’s 0.9-2.4 move in the June Nielsen book wasn’t enough to save the Country format. All roads are expected to lead to Rhythmic Top 40 as they have new accounts active and ready to go soon.

‘The Wolf’ is officially dead...’OTW is now in stunt mode. Looping ‘Jam on It’ from Newcleus, while promoting an announcement for Monday at noon.

The WOTW calls are also gone. It’ll be WFYY and the Fly 103.1 social media accounts are ready to go August 1 (2022).

I would love to see (and hopefully be a part of) something that is a mix of 80s, 90s, 2000s hip hop, dance, freestyle, & pop.
I sort of called it earlier in this thread.
I predict Missy Elliott "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" as the 1st song, if it's Classic Hip Hop.

One day, the Wolf will fly away,

Today was that day. From Country Aircheck:

Orlando Loses its Howl: JVC Media WOTW/Orlando ended its seven-and-a-half year run as a Country station today at Midnight ET (7/29). George Strait's "The Cowboy Rides Away" closed the format as a loop of the 1984 hip hop song "Jam On It" by Newcleus began, with liners promoting the arrival of a new station Monday (8/1) at noon. The same stunt was used in the market in 1988 when Rhythmic WJHM (now Alternative WQMP) signed on. New call letters WFYY have been applied for. All airstaff, including PD/afternoon host Murph Dawg and morning hosts Chad Hallmark and Susie Korgul, remain with JVC in yet-to-be-announced capacities; Korgul is also entertaining outside voicetracking opportunities and can be reached here.

CFL Radio Net has reported the new format will be "Electronic Dance"...
Um... WHAT?!

I will enjoy these "Party" songs while it lasts!
Thanks for letting me know.
I was listening a little BEFORE midnight tonight, & still heard "Jam On It" loop, so they could be toying with us with a wheel of formats until Monday, but "Electronic Dance" would be a "fly" discovery!

So I was at the Mya & Ying Yang Twins concert tonight, & Lil' Shawn, who was hosting on stage, announced that the crowd will like what will happen on Monday, so it sounds like it will be Hip Hop & R&B, & not "Electronic Dance" as CFL Radio Net reported. It also sounds like he's involved, since he made the announcement about it, & it is a few months after his non-compete is over from Power, right?
