The worst commercials in TV history..

As expected, March Madness viewers have been subjected to these ads ad nauseum during the tourney, but I am sick of the following ads:

--The Miller Lite ads with the very ugly-looking guys appearing to wear women's bikini shorts.

--The "NAPA Know-How" song is about to drive me insane if I have to hear it any more times.

--And I first saw this one today (and it was on my CBS affiliate's local commercial breaks despite appearing to be a national spot): the McDonald's spot for their Filet-O-Fish extra value meal with two ugly pirate bobbleheads (one appeared to have sliced a young man's sandwich perfectly in half with his plastic toy sword).

All stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

Add another nominee for this "award" courtesy of the CBS Duke-UNC broadcast: the Degree ad with three guys wearing red meat and being chased by hungry wolves.

It may be a Lady Gaga favorite.

Shane's kisses were getting deliciously heavy as Nichole's body pressed against his. He held her close, feeling her heartbeat in rhythm with his. She had longed for this moment since she first saw him in High School, and he was ready and willing to fulfill her wildest dreams. His large hands moved from her bare shoulders; she caught her breath as his kisses became deeper. At the moment of truth, Shane leaned over her and whispered in her ear, "What's in YOUR wallet?"
;D

I like all of the Capital One Commercials, esp. the new ones, people people you dig the latest music but your still banking like Beethoven?

The one I'm hating on right now is the Universal Studio's ad for the 3D King Kong ride where a young kid gets scared and ages 70 years in 15 seconds.

Maybe it's just me but the thought of aging at a hyper rate doesn't appeal to me.

The tag line is "the thrill lasts a lifetime" because "scarred for life" just won't sell tickets. :D ;)

TV writers are masters at "rapid aging syndrome"--case in point: Andrew Keaton on "Family Ties" aging from a baby to a three-year-old preschooler in one season, and many instances on the soap operas.

I am not going to surf through all 32 pages here to see if this one was mentioned previously....BUT...

Growing up in Pittsburgh in the pre-cable era I was fortunate enough to live high up on a hill, where
we could not only get our local stations, but those exotic ones from Wheeling, WV, Youngstown and
Steubenville, Ohio as well.

One of my favorite things about watching WSTV in Steubenville was the cheesy quality of the local
commercials, Steubenville being one of the smaller TV markets around.

And some of the very cheesiest were done by a car dealer, Huebner Chevrolet of Carrollton, Ohio.
The owner would dress up like a super-hero in a cape and a mask, and star in his own ads as Mr.
Cost Plus. And they were everything you might expect of an ad with that concept done in a very
small market on tiny budgets.

The only time Mr. Huebner would break out of his Mr. Cost Plus persona was at Christmas time when
he would transform into some type of televangelist and use his thirty seconds of air time to urge us
to give ourselves over to Jesus.

I had not thought of these ads in many years, until the other day I passed a van with Huebner Chevrolet's
dealer plate holder in traffic. I had no idea they were even still in business. I would suspect that by
this time Mr. Cost Plus has gone to that great Chromakey studio in the sky. I went to Google them and
found that some thoughtful person had posted an entire channel on YouTube devoted to the adventures of Mr. Cost Plus!

Cheesy or not, they had the desired effect, as I still remembered Huebner Chevrolet after all these years!

Right on the money on all points, Freddy. Those commercials were as cheesy as you say, but they were gold when it came to remembering that dealership. I also have very fond memories of them, and still remember how good those Christmas spots were.

Mr. Huebner was obviously very sincere, and his Christmas spots were certainly heartfelt.
But they sure caught you off guard after watching him clown around in tights for the
previous 11 months! Nice to see that the dealership is still around.

"The doctor came and told me, 'You just beat the widow maker'".

Please allow me to expound upon that for a moment, with a few replies for the good doctor:

"So, it's all about my wife, Doc?"
"She told me to eat #%*& and die just this morning, so what's your point, Doc?".
"Gee, Doc, I wouldn't want to grieve my wife.".
"You're a real pal, Doc. Thanks for taking me into consideration.".
"When I take a pain pill, she's still there. Will aspirin make her go away?".

Has anyone seen the Colon Health pro-biotic commercials where a woman giving a toast at an outdoor wedding instead promotes the virtues of this product including preventing constipation, bloating and diarhea? Sickening and gross--and on YouTube:

I'm grossed out everytime there's one of these commercials with nice-looking women that are talking about constipation, gas and the like. Ick.

"Do you mind if I say two words about...diarhhea?" (Cue the pies in the Johnny Carson takeoff of that commercial. ;D )

If we're going there....how about the ones Pepto Bismol used to run where people would
dance a version of the Macarena shouting "upset stomach, indigestion, nausea,
heartburn, diarrhea" while grabbing their stomachs, buttocks, etc. Ruined many a late
night snack for me.
