I never said no music.

Break every ten minutes on the tens.. 2 minute breaks.. 2 minute talk sets.. phoner crazy with 2 songs in between.

Do the math on that, see if that all adds up. Hint: it doesn't.

Sure it does. DO THE MATH

Dont think it will work?

No.

You're intimidated by change. I see it clear as day

Lazlo is the best thing to happen to Seattle radio in twenty years.

Too bad the folks who fill out the Arbitron diaries don't agree.

How many of the people that listen to KNDD use a cell phone as their only for of a telephone? DO THE MATH AND LEARN A LITTLE ABOUT ARBITRON

Okay, since you appear unwilling to do the math, here are the numbers according to your design:

:00 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:02 - 2 minutes of spots
:10 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:12 - 2 minutes of spots
:20 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:22 - 2 minutes of spots
:30 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:32 - 2 minutes of spots
:40 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:42 - 2 minutes of spots
:50 - 2 minute talk break/phoner
:52 - 2 minutes of spots
rinse, repeat.

That's 24 minutes talk and/or spots. Add in the usual two :30 second promos per hour, that's 25 minutes of stuff.

Let's say average song length is 3:30. Your clock allows for 10 songs an hour.

And IF they can fit all 10 songs in there, which is highly unlikely, it has no momentum. Like driving in rush-hour traffic. Yeah, that's what the young males who won't hesitate to reach for their iPods want.

As for being unwilling to change: I'm all for it. But your idea is New Coke.

As for not knowing Arbitron, pbf1 said it pretty good already.

I actually like that clock if you change the 2:00 talk breaks to :15-:30 breaks and make some of the spots :30s instead of :60s like CC is doing in a lot of their markets. That would give you 3 or maybe even 4 additional songs per hour and good momentum and you would never have any of these 5 or 6 minute stopsets which are a TOTAL tuneout.

You oughta read up on the Arbitron PPM data in regards to commercials that's out there now. You might learn something.

I am not familiar with the Arbitron data you mention. What I have learned is that I really dislike sitting through 6 minutes of spots.

And you are a sample of ONE.

Hey this is great!I'm the one who officially beats the cume by one!
Long live Thee End, at best nowadays, kisw jr., at worst, holding up valuable, precious airspace for a forthcoming Spanish Talk Station.

Are you trying to say that you find 6 minute stopsets to be ok? That's fine if you do, all I am saying is that I do not.

What the hell? SIX MINUTE STOPSETS?!

Unless you're working someplace where the boss controls the radio choice, I can't imagine ANYBODY with the will to be sitting through THAT with a PPM to tell about it. Hell, you can't even get me to sit through the first minute of most stopsets.

There is enough workplace rage - a six minute stopset is more annoying than playing those "lite" stations (the kind you have to tether your radio down to something to keep it from floating away.)

Long live the iPod.....

They do. Read the Arbitron PPM findings.

At gunpoint probably. But if these PPMs had built in lie detectors that would reveal the truth when it's users are asked "Did you ENJOY any of them?" or "Would you like to hear MORE of them?".......
