There could be a sign for Smooth Jazz to come back

To the DFW Metroplex. I Believe KEGL-The Eagle could flip to Smooth Jazz after Christmas-That could be a big welcome after KOAI became Movin' (KMVK) not so very long. The Oasis was a popular workday station the DFW until it got flipped. That change could happen, but for now let's continue to listen to the sounds of Christmas 24/7...

...or a good Real Oldies station...or a classic country (simulcast 1190 and staff it?)...or return the EAGLE rock format...or a lite AC...but please, no more talk or sports.

....or "97.1 Hallelujah FM". Urban Gospel my friend. Urban Gospel......

It won't be talk, J.D. Freeman is a music guy, not a talk guy. It may be either smooth jazz or classic alternative (like WRFF in Philly 104.5).

My money is still on some sort of oldies format.

I'm a creature of habit so I hope you're right.

I'm too lazy to learn the words to the new songs, most of which are lousy anyway.

I just looked at the websites for smooth jazz in Chicago (WNUA) and San Francisco (KKSF) and their websites are simply their calls www.wnua.com & www.kksf.com . www.kegl.com is simply pointing to the CC server so there may not be any "clues" from domain registries such as smoothjazzz971.com etc.

You mean you can understand those new-fangled tunes? ;D

Maybe, they'll go to an all 70's format. :D

Why don't you buy KRLD, and make it a real news station? ;)

Well, you guys mentioned WNUA, & KKSF. You forgot KYOT 95.5-The Coyote in Phoenix. I believe Geoffrey Holder, the guy who did those 7up commercials is still the voice-over guy. Are there other CC stations that plays jazz besides these 3? Also, I think CC will change the calls of KEGL so it can sound pretty much different.

Sorry, I'm a musicologist, not a newsologist. ;)

Hmmm.... Coyote and Jazz, in the same sentence? Wow, what a simile

I know this has been discussed before, I just didn't follow it too closely....

What revenue and ratings success did the Smooth Jazz/the Oasis have in DFW before it was changed?

What makes the most sense for a format choice in the market today?

We know they are going to go after the biggest piece of the ratings and revenue pie. If my memory serves me correctly, the Oasis did not generate a stellar bottom line, but again, I don't remember too much regarding the previous discussions. If someone wouldn't mind a recap....thanks.

For one thing, a good strong signal. The signal on 107.5 isn't very good especially out of Dallas county.
