"Of greater impact over the long term will be the news that the first coordinated rollout of multicast stations have begun; this too shows that radio has game left. We've been reading that multicast could be the "killer app" for HD Radio, and I suspect that's correct; certainly the promise of new content moved the business news needle in a way that the promise of digital sound never did. That's also because the concept is easy for consumers and analysts to understand. "You can get new program channels in addition to your old ones, and all you need is to buy a new radio." Nothing particularly complicated about that."

Yeah, except cost, need and desire. The radios cost too much, nobody needs it and the general public has no notion of what HD Radio is to desire it. And even if they did know, would they still desire it?

No, the only way HD Radio will ever succeed is if the FCC forces people to buy it (by way of an analog cut-off).

Come to think of it, force seems to be the only M.O. for HD Radio.

Some interesting comments, from the general public - they are not buying into this farse:

Where do you get this crap? The latest comment is nearly a year old, and these people seem to share one commen qualtity of never actually having heard HD. They are making assumptions of what station management wantsz to do, without any knowledge of the way a radio staiton runs. Pure BS, in other words.

Remember, all I have to do is post links - it's about injecting doubt ! I don't have to win your, "war with words" !

Which is good. Because you're not winning. In fact, two more people are getting HD radio thanks to this board.

I guess you can't even do a good job at injecting doubt. Anti-IBOC folks are even asking you to stop.

;D

Gosh, I remember one saying he was not going to get one ! The majority of people to this site are just visitors, and you have no idea what they are going to do. I thought you already wrote your dramatic eulogy, so why are you back ?

I see posts from this year, don't you?
Perhaps you just preferred to ignore them!
HD supporters are in denial as usual.

IBOC-haters, lying as usual.
