They preempted that for this?

WDIV in Detroit (NBC) has some odd changes to their Saturday evening and primetime lineup tonight. Perhaps due to Soccer and PGA all afternoon on NBC, the 6:00 newscast expands to an hour, delaying NBC Nightly News to 7:00. An infomerical will air at 7:30, and for the first hour of primetime, Wheel of Fortune Weekend is moved to 8:00, followed by another infomercial at 8:30. A repeat of America's Got Talent will be JIP'd halfway through at 9:00.

Another example of a station that would rather make viewers angry than the companies with infomercials.

Next Weekend is the North Dakota high school hockey Tournament and Forum Communications carries the games (WDAY Fargo, WDAZ Grand Forks, KBMY Bismarck and KCMY Minot)

Thursdays games are on WDAY/Z Xtra (subchannel). The only shows that are being moved are The Doctors (2pm) and 25 words or less (6:30pm) to 2:05-3:05 and 3:05-3:35...normally its just weather maps and audio overnights
Friday's games are at 5:30 & 8pm on the main ABC stations...Shark Tank and 20/20 get bumped to overnight 12:07-1:08 and 1:08-3:07
Saturdays Championship games are at 4:30 & 7pm. NFL Live (Combine special) that is on from 4-5 and the NBA pregame and game gets moved to the Xtra channel (don't worry NBA fans...its in HD)

I know whatever I say won't make sense to you and you'll claim the station has the right to do what they want, but they decided that making money from the infomercials was more important than regular programming and they would rather make viewers angry than to make the people with the infomercials angry. But the viewers do have a right to complain and should.

The Big Three all broke in with news about the Harvey Weinstein verdict by 11:50 AM Eastern. NBC was the first to break in nationally, followed shortly by ABC and CBS, the latter happening during the Showcase segment of The Price is Right.

Their NYC affiliates all broadcasted their own local coverage since that's where the trial was happening, and they all cut in earlier than the national coverage. WCBS cut in to TPIR during the final "Item Up for Bids" at 11:39. WNBC waited for the current interview segment on local show New York Live to finish before interrupting around 11:43, and WABC cut into The View during a commercial break around that same time.

Tonight was the State of the City address in Detroit. It aired on three of the Big Four affiliates in said market: WDIV/NBC, WXYZ/ABC, and WJBK/FOX. The event was not listed on WJBK, but did air there according to social media. WDIV pre-empted Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! entirely, WXYZ pre-empted a local newscast and The List (the latter repeats at 2:07 AM), and WJBK pre-empted TMZ and Extra, both of which air three times. TMZ airs at 7:00 PM, 11:30 PM, and 1:30 AM. Extra airs at 7:30 PM, 12:00 AM, and 2:30 PM the following weekday.

WWJ/CBS did not air it since they don't do local news.

CBS had this week's Democratic Debate from 8:00-10:15 Eastern, followed by a 45-minute CBS News special to fill the rest of the hour to 11:00. Both aired live across all time zones, so Mountain and Pacific had some syndie shuffling.

Mountain CBS stations had a choice of filling the 9:00 PM hour with either the 6:00 hour programs or a rerun of SEAL Team. Of the four co-owned CBS Montana stations (all state markets except Glendive), which all carry the Jeopardy!/Wheel of Fortune duo in that hour, three of them aired those shows at 9:00, while KPAX in Missoula opted for SEAL Team and did not air either game show at all. KRQE Albuquerque also chose SEAL Team for 9:00, but bumped Jeopardy! and Wheel to 12:37 and 1:07 AM, replacing Paid Programming and a repeat of the 10:00 news. KKTV Colorado Springs initially had the game show duo for 9:00 (and still have it listed as such on their website), but eventually swapped them with SEAL Team.

Pacific CBS stations pretty much all moved the 7:00 hour shows to the 9:00 hour and aired a SEAL Team rerun at 10:00. KCBS Los Angeles aired Inside Edition/Entertainment Tonight at 9:00, and KLAS Las Vegas did the same with Jeopardy! and Wheel, as did KBAK Bakersfield and KVAL Eugene with those shows. Those three are the only CBS affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone that carry the game show duo. The rest of PST's carriage of J!/WOF is otherwise a fairly even split between ABC's and NBC's (no FOX's).

ABC O&O WTVD in Raleigh pre-empted Wheel of Fortune with a random local special yet again. This time, it was a special on the news team's investigative reporter Diane Wilson titled "Looking Out for You". WOF was bumped to 11.2 Localish.

News Outlets in Oregon, and Washington State pre-empted regular programming for a press conference with CDC officials over a Coronavirus scare in their state. This is similar to how Sacramento and Bay Area News Outlets had to go to their states CDC press conference to confirm rumors of an outbreak in their area.

Here is an update the rest of the USA got the White House Press Conference over coronavirus while Seattle News Outlets pre emptied the White House Press Conference for the CDC Press Conference in Washington State over a reported death in the Seattle Area.

Note I expect other states in the coming weeks to face their COVID-19 CDC press conference as more states start to get a surge in COVID-19. So far the focus has been centered on California, Oregon and Washington State and their state CDC conference in regards to their local outbreak. I expect other states to start pre empting their shows in the coming weeks for Reports of outbreaks in their areas.

forgot to post that this past Wednesday and Thursday WDIO (ABC) Duluth, MN pre-empted ABC programming for the high school section semi-finals in 7A & 7AA (which is mainly made up of teams from NE Minnesota)

ABC programming was bumped to 1:07-4:07 Thursday and Friday morning

They've been carrying those 2 games each year for over 20 years (I remember them being on when I live in Duluth in 2000) yet people whine about the pre-emptions

Well this week coming up is the state hockey tourney (Wednesday-Saturday) so WDIO will be pre-empting programming those days. People will complain but they have carried it since 2004 (sister station KSTC in Minneapolis has the rights)

So this week for the tourney its as such in the various markets. Games are at 11am, 1:30pm (approx), 6 & 8:30 (approx) pm
Minneapolis-St Paul...KSTC Independent. Shows that wont be seen are old reruns of Seinfled, Black-ish, Goldbergs, Friends, 2 Broke Girls, Last Man Standing (all multiple runs), a rerun of Kelly Clarkson (new shows are on sister KSTP ABC) and news
Rochester-Albert Lea-Austin, MN Mason City, IA...KAAL-DT2 (ThisTv)
Fargo/Grand Forks, ND (encompassing NW Minnesota)...KVRR/KBRR/KNRR-DT2 (AntennaTv)
Sioux Falls, SD (SW MN is included)...KDLT-DT2 (AntennaTV)
Mankato, MN...Spectrum carries KAAL-DT2, Consolidated they put it on their preview channel (in s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d SD)...otherwise big antenna folks can aim at the translator farm 25 miles away and possibly get KSTC

That brings us to Duluth, MN....WDIO ABC
The noon hour GMA-nuked
General Hospital-moved to DT2 MeTV
Oz and Rachael-nuked
Ellen will be JIP'd if game isnt done by 4pm
6pm news is on MeTv
