They preempted that for this?

CBS broke into programming from about 7:04-7:07 PM Eastern last night to announce that Joe Biden won the latest primary.

Also, I saw on Clippit last night that WABC's 11:00 news ran to 12:16 AM with Wipeout starting late, so NBA overran about 16 minutes. I assume KGO ran their After the Game program from ~8:20 Pacific straight to 9:00, pre-empting a rerun of Wheel of Fortune's 7000th episode, but I was too busy to check.

prime time gets moved to after nightline which would be as early as 1:07. After hockey is news, then kimmel and nightline

What happens if the last game runs over? Does the news truncate itself to end at 11:35 no matter what, or will it run for 30 minutes regardless and start Kimmel and Nightline delayed? I would think the latter since the two late-night shows are already delayed by an hour.

news will run for 35 minutes regardless. They even mention to "Please allow for extra time when recording your favorite ABC programming."

Are we really going to hear about every time someone seems to mention this virus?

Yes for this week though given that multiple states are doing press conferences with the CDC over the fallout of COVID-19 though. I expect multiple markets this week and next week to interrupt regular programming for the CDC Announcement of a virus investigation.

The Big Three all cut in with election updates at the top of the 7:00 and 7:30 time slots for about a minute. On WABC, Jeopardy! was JIP'd as Alex Trebek was announcing the categories, so no actual gameplay was lost. For Wheel of Fortune at 7:30, the first Toss-Up puzzle was lost, along with most of the contestant interviews. For the other networks, this cut into Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and All Access. FOX/WNYW did not cut into Big Bang Theory.

Yes and I thought this was complete ridiculous and unnecessary because first of all the network newscast had just ended and secondly the big 3 were all scheduled to do 3 hours of non-stop coverage during primetime.

WJZY had a special 11:00 newscast specifically for Super Tuesday coverage, just like they did last Tuesday for the South Carolina Presidential Debate, but Extra wasn’t pre-empted. Extra, TMZ, Dish Nation and Access Hollywood were all pushed back a half hour. I believe 4 shows also air in its entirety when the 10:00 news is delayed. I don’t expect that to change even with Nexstar ownership.

Well this week coming up is the state hockey tourney (Wednesday-Saturday) so WDIO will be pre-empting programming those days. People will complain but they have carried it since 2004 (sister station KSTC in Minneapolis has the rights)

So this week for the tourney its as such in the various markets. Games are at 11am, 1:30pm (approx), 6 & 8:30 (approx) pm
Minneapolis-St Paul...KSTC Independent. Shows that wont be seen are old reruns of Seinfled, Black-ish, Goldbergs, Friends, 2 Broke Girls, Last Man Standing (all multiple runs), a rerun of Kelly Clarkson (new shows are on sister KSTP ABC) and news
Rochester-Albert Lea-Austin, MN Mason City, IA...KAAL-DT2 (ThisTv)
Fargo/Grand Forks, ND (encompassing NW Minnesota)...KVRR/KBRR/KNRR-DT2 (AntennaTv)
Sioux Falls, SD (SW MN is included)...KDLT-DT2 (AntennaTV)
Mankato, MN...Spectrum carries KAAL-DT2, Consolidated they put it on their preview channel (in s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d SD)...otherwise big antenna folks can aim at the translator farm 25 miles away and possibly get KSTC

That brings us to Duluth, MN....WDIO ABC
The noon hour GMA-nuked
General Hospital-moved to DT2 MeTV
Oz and Rachael-nuked
Ellen will be JIP'd if game isnt done by 4pm
6pm news is on MeTv

Anyone know what's going on with the ACC Basketball Tournament this year? Normally, several local affiliates, especially the ones based in NC, carry it for several days, but I haven't seen anything different in some stations' schedules for next week. Last year, WFMY Greensboro (CBS), WVIR Charlottesville (NBC), and WITN Greenville (NBC) all carried at least one of the games.

WBTV had them since day one. WJZY and WMYT started picking up games around the late 90s to cut down on the CBS pre-emptions on WBTV. (WJZY dropped them after they became Fox). When the tourney expanded to 12 teams WJZY and WMYT always split the first round, then WMYT carried the first two rounds when it became 15 teams, and WBTV always took over starting with the quarterfinals. Sadly the syndicated games are no more, the actual ACC Network has picked up those games. The first round tourney games will only air on the ACC Network. The rest will be on ESPN. All about the almighty dollar. But the soap fans will be happy.

And game show and Ellen fans. ;)

Here's a promo from WFMY last year about the CBS and syndie pre-emptions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI8CAovB2fE They were all moved to 2.3 WeatherNation.

WBTV eventually moved its Thursday daytime lineup to Bounce while the afternoon quarterfinal session was airing on the main channel. But the first two rounds airing on WMYT prevented them from having to also do that on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Speaking of NC, a friend of mine in Charlotte who watches on WCNC/NBC claims that the station did not cut into Wheel of Fortune at 7:30 with the election updates like most other stations, although a couple minutes about halfway through the show (during Round 3), the station did its "Weekly Test", cutting off some of that round.

Another Wheel fan in the show's Facebook group said that his station, KJUD Juneau (ABC) accidentally skipped the Bonus Round last night and only aired commercials instead of the final segment. Since all three of Alaska's ABC affiliates - KJUD, KYUR, and KATN - are linked (possibly with unique newscasts), this likely happened on the other two stations as well.
