They preempted that for this?

When I was a teenager I could get Charlotte and Asheville stations too. I'm not sure about WFBC (now WYFF) but definitely WLOS and WSPA. What I remember most about these stations is WLOS had reruns of "I Love Lucy", which I watched for the first time during those years (though I remember seeing it when I was much younger, but that doesn't really count since I didn't remember it), and WSPA had "Hee Haw" in its normal Saturday evening slot while WSOC in Charlotte waited a week.

Was I Love Lucy on before the soap Ryan's Hope?

In the past I've ranted about how that the networks need to come up with something to fill non-sports times on weekend afternoons to keep local stations from running infomercials. I noticed that this afternoon ABC is running repeats of Match Game. Although it isn't for the whole afternoon, this is a step in the right direction and better than the other networks are doing, which usually is little or nothing.

not a pre-empt but a bump

Due to the North Dakota Boys and Girls hockey finals on Saturday (Girls at 4:30, boys at 7), WDAY (Fargo), WDAZ (Grand Forks), KBMY (Bismarck) and KMCY (Minot) is bumping the NBA game to its "WDAY/Z Xtra" station (-3 OTA)...good news for the folks who want to watch that game is that WDAY/Z Xtra is in HD

Just saw a promo for during the news. I'm pretty sure KVRR
will air the MN Boys and Girls Hockey Tournament on Antenna TV (-2 OTA) as it's been the past few years.

It will be a big gaping hole for stations in the ACC area after tonight, because this is the last game Raycom does. I'm getting a preview of what WLOS will fill the hole with today(tennis, produced by ESPN) today.

And programming that helps stations' bottom lines hurts you....how, exactly? Most remotes do come with an off button.

with Raycom losing the ACC rights to ESPN's new ACC Network, infomercials will sure get more airplay on the Raycom stations in those ACC market in the fall and next season of College Basketball.

I'm just glad those games are over. It didn't affect me until the tournament but when I checked the listings, "Fam" was on in the middle of the night. I made sure to add extra time. Then I found out I should have looked at all the shows that were airing that night. Turns out there were two episodes of "Fam". TiVo knew to record the second one but not to add extra time.

Then "MacGyver" was shown in the listings for the next night. I added extra time. Didn't matter. What recorded was "S.W.A.T."

It could have been worse. I get two CBS affiliates on my cable system. The other one had all the games (the My Network affiliate where I live had the early games) and also bumped "Jeopardy". Which is on the NBC affiliate where I live.

Last week's NFL Draft caused quite a bit of pre-emptions thanks to ABC getting the rights for this year. Wheel of Fortune was pre-empted on several of its top affiliates like WABC New York, WPVI Philadelphia, WJLA Washington DC; it was affected on all ABC affiliates last Friday since the Draft started at 7 Eastern and Wheel has a mandatory time slot of 7:00 or 7:30 ET/PT and 6:00 or 6:30 CT/MT. Jeopardy! was not affected in as many markets since it doesn't have a time slot mandate (such as 3:30 PM on WLS Chicago).

Last Thursday, Nexstar Media produced a Draft preview special that was aired on all of its stations at 7:30 ET/6:30 CT. This pre-empted Wheel on a few other stations such as WKRN in Nashville, which has pre-empted Wheel many, MANY times this season (probably about 20% of the season to date) for various reasons, whether sports or local news specials. And as luck would have it, one of the teams competing on Thursday's episode was from the Nashville area. WTNH Hartford/New Haven also aired the special and skipped both the Thursday and Friday episodes of WOF completely last week.

Also last Thursday, WBZ Boston (CBS O&O) pre-empted Wheel with a special edition of Patriots All Access, a show which is infamous for pre-empting Wheel and Jeopardy! every Friday during football season, bumping them overnight (though this edition was only half an hour so Jeopardy! was unaffected).

Since Jeopardy! currently has a very notable champion streak right now, several ABC stations went out of their way to reschedule the show, while only about half of them gave equal treatment to WOF. For example, WJLA Washington DC aired Friday's Jeopardy! on Saturday in place of a rerun, but WOF's airing that day was still its rerun meaning they skipped Friday's WOF. WPLG Miami bumped Friday's Jeopardy! to its MeTV sub, but did not air WOF at all.

WABC actually pre-empted WOF's Saturday rerun with Friday's Jeopardy! at 7:30 (7:00 was a delayed 6:00 news that day because of the Draft), and the station made sure to get the word out about it in every way possible. Meanwhile, Friday's WOF was bumped to 2:35 AM and the announcement wasn't put out there as much as J!'s was. A special promo mentioning J!'s "special" time on Saturday also aired right before WOF's overnight airing.

WTVD Raleigh/Durham did the opposite of WABC - airing J! overnight and replacing Wheel's Saturday rerun with Friday's episode. This was due to a local couple competing on that episode.

Since apparently stations cannot air Wheel earlier than 7 Eastern without advance permission, only two affiliates did so. WIVT Binghamton aired the show two hours early at 5:00 Eastern, and KETV Omaha aired it on its MeTV sub an hour early at 5:30 Central.

I think they should worked a live Wheel into the Draft. Coaches and GM's make couples team. That would have added some entertainment. Wheel of Fortune the Draft version.

Seems like they NEVER have celebrity versions of any kind anymore. I still remember the last Soap Opera Stars week, like 2006? Also, odd that it's never been in a primetime version, celebrity or otherwise. Literally everything else has, even Jeopardy in 1990 (Super Jeopardy!) but not Pat & Vanna. ABC could surely air a version in the summer with two games and either celebrities playing for charity, or three players and a wheel with increased dollar amounts. After all they've had success with the Summer Fun & Games.
OH WAIT. Harry Friedman wouldn't dare try to do that...

Anyways, back on topic.

The last celebrity week to date was in November 2007. However, Sony Email leaks showed that Harry Friedman was considering an "incognito celebrities" gag for April Fool's Day 2014 in which three celebrities played under different names and were treated like regular contestants, with no acknowledgement until the next day. Ultimately, this didn't happen, which is a shame. Would have been fun.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but channel 8 in New Haven Ct did not air Dark Shadows until about 1970. At that time the show was losing steam and was cancelled in 1971. Dark Shadows was a ratings giant and I never understood why the show was not shown in CT. Instead an dumb local kids show called Mr. Goober was shown at the time Dark Shadows was supposed to be shown. As a kid back then, it was really hard to know about Dark Shadows, and not getting to see it unless we were on vacation in a place that carried the show was really hard as a youngster. I watch it now on Amazon Prime and enjoy it.

I wonder how many people got upset that the review of the Kentucky Derby took so long. The puck dropped, as they say, on a cable channel while the trophy was handed out and not to applause as it usually is. I also didn't hear anything about what a great race it was.

some FS1 weekday late Morning/afternoon shows will be preempted tomorrow late morning/early afternoon as today's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Dover got rained out and was postponed until Tomorrow at 12 PM EDT/11 AM CDT, 10 AM MDT/ 9 AM PDT & AZ MST.

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't know what it is about stations in the midwest and "Survive the Storm" severe weather specials. Not breaking news coverage or a tornado watch, but pre-produced Powerpoint-like specials on how to prepare for a storm.

Several stations in the midwest have pre-empted Wheel of Fortune (regardless of its time slot) with such specials this season.

Wed March 20: WBNS Columbus, OH (CBS) bumped WOF to 1:37 AM after Corden.
Thu March 28: KYTV Springfield, MO (NBC) bumped that day's WOF to Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM.
Thu Apr 4: KOMU Columbia, MO (NBC) didn't air that day's WOF at all. The real kicker was that the same special re-aired multiple times over the following weekend, so there was absolutely no reason to pre-empt WOF on a random weekday.
Thu Apr 18: WILX Lansing, MI (NBC) aired an hour-long special, bumping WOF and Jeopardy! to its AntennaTV subchannel, both of them replacing Archie Bunker's Place. This was the only weather special pre-emption that also affected Jeopardy!; all of the other affiliates aired J! as normal despite not airing WOF.
Wed May 15: KWWL Waterloo, IA (NBC) is bumping that day's WOF to Saturday night/Sunday morning at 1:32 AM, which will air as a double run with this weekend's Saturday rerun following it at 2:02 since NBC has the Preakness Stakes and Stanley Cup playoffs all day Saturday.

Is someone at Jeopardy! paying these stations to pick on WOF? :p
