They preempted that for this?

well I see KEYC is doing the old "syndicated shuffle" in a couple weeks due to the soccer thingy starting the 14th where they move the syndicated shows between KEYC-DT2 (FOX) and KEYC (CBS)
Saturday 6/16 looks like they are moving some syndicated shows like Judge Judy and Family Feud from KEYC-DT2 to KEYC as FOX has US Open and CBS has....well nothing (national programming wise)

I see on 6/17 KEYC is taking the load of KEYC-DT2 syndicated programming again....
11:30-12:30 Mike and Molly (the normal weekend run on KEYC-DT2)
12:30-1:30 Mike and Molly (the shows that were pre-empted Thursday and Friday due to golf...show is normally on 5PM)
1:30-3 Big Bang (the normal weekend run)
3-5 Peoples Court (the shows that were pre-empted Thursday and Friday due to soccer...show is normally on at 11AM)

Its better than what WCCO Minneapolis has Sat-Sunday from 11-5......yup.....paid programs

not a pre-emption but more of got a chuckle out of me

So CBS had no national programming until 1 Central today and KEYC doesn't run paid programs on the CBS side (they do on the FOX sub)....ok they run the one church service that has the "paid religious program" slate before it

Anywho so from 11am-1pm they ran "This is Spinal Tap" :D
(damn I see they are going to show it again next Sunday at 3pm which when I made the last post the guides said Peoples Court would be shown...pre-empted from FOX sub due to soccer)

I saw most of it. The sports event that preceded it ran over by about five minutes but I certainly saw enough to get the general idea.

Many daytime shows and sitcom reruns are being preempted on KCYU the next few days due to World Cup/US Open...today none of the court shows aired, Crime Watch, Steve, etc. One run of Last Man Standing was also preempted. Would they air them in late night? No! Gotta make room for that 'OnTV4U' infomercial block at 1:05AM exactly :(

Here in Minneapolis they are moving any newscast that would be pre-empted due to soccer from KMSP FOX 9 to WFTC FOX 9+ (the station formerly known as My29) which will pre-empt the syndicated fare there which in most cases is a 2nd airing of a show that is normally shown on FOX9.

Well it's another weekend with no sports on CBS, and WREG in Memphis is at it again with nothing but infomercials on Saturday from Noon to 5 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 5:30 PM (Absolutely the worst). But at least WBBJ 7.3 in Jackson, TN will have Me TV (A LOT better!)

KVRR pre-empted a game again this morning. From the Fargo thread at AVS

KVRR did not pick up the Iceland / Argentina game this morning. They decided that syndicated shows about large farm animal doctors had a bigger audience I guess.

I'll top that ;)

WCCO has paid programs from 11-5 today and tomorrow and KARE 11 (NBC) has paid programs from 11-5 tomorrow

Oh, how I wish these stations still had huge libraries of movies and old TV shows they could air in filler. Even if they were '50s B&W movies it would be something different than 'Larry King's Omega XL' or the 3,017,506th infomercial for the NuWave Oven.

WFSB the CBS station in Hartford all infomercials Saturday and Sunday Afternoon June 16th and 17th.

Without sports on NBC today, WVIT the O&O in Hartford is airing E/I programming from NBC Noon-3PM, something about animals in Africa becoming extinct (who cares?) at 3PM, LX.TV Open House (which NBC force feeds to their O&O's) at 3:30PM, and weekend editions of EXTRA and ACCESS 4PM-6PM. (All 3 usually air overnights).

With all the coverage of World Cup Soccer and US Open Golf since Thursday infomercials and local news and syndicated programming is getting preempted on WTIC the Tribune owned FOX station in Hartford. Some of the more popular shows are getting bumped to the over night replacing less popular shows and infomercials. The other day a Wendy Williams rerun (she's on vacay until July 2nd) aired 2:30AM replacing one infomercial and one rerun of Cops. Yesterday an hour of their morning news was blown out for sports. Today 2 hours of the morning news and one infomercial. Yesterday was all Sports on FOX 8AM-11PM. Soccer was on 8AM-who-knows-what-time. Then Golf was on til 7 or 8PM. Then The Redsox-Mariners Game was on til 11PM or later. Today FOX has sports 7AM-7PM. Soccer 7AM-10AM. Golf 10AM-7PM. The afternoon News 4PM-6PM got blown out on Friday. The only news that got bumped to sister station WCCT-TV 20 is the 10PM last night. That's the only time news gets bounce to 20 is when FOX schedules Sports til 11PM (or later). Not if the sports programming runs long. Just when it's scheduled to 11PM (or later).

I didn't realize that NBC didn't have any sports today, but I checked the schedule and WMC in Memphis has E/I and syndicated shows and only one infomercial. WNBJ in Jackson, TN has E/I and syndicated shows and NO infomercials!!!

Apparently ABC is sports free today except for a 30 minute NBA special as well and WBBJ in Jackson is showing their usual nix of syndicated shows and only 2 infomercials after noon. I'm not sure about WATN in Memphis since they aren't on Charter cable in my area.

I can't believe WREG is making more money with infomercials than they could with local ads on other programs, especially considering how they run syndicated programs late nights. I think they're just taking the rasy (and LAZY) way out.

NBC has no sports; KNDO is mainly airing infomercials (especially the Dean Graziosi real-estate scam) mixed with Entertainers and The American Athlete. KIMA is airing infomercials mixed with Laura McKenzie's Traveler and Real Green.

I've said this before but WREG could simulcast Antenna TV during non-sports times on weekends, and other stations could use the option of simulcasting a subchannel as well.

And again, that wouldn't make as much money for the station as broadcasting infomercials does. I don't watch infomercials. You don't watch infomercials. Apparently, nobody on this entire website watches infomercials. But there are lower lifeforms out that that do, and enough of these alleged humans live in Memphis and are able to scrawl something resembling a human signature on a check and mail it to the infomercials' sponsors that those sponsors continue to pay the station for the time. That's the state of television today. At certain times of day, it just doesn't matter if what's on the air is entertaining or informative, just that it's paid for. Hey, why do you think it's called the idiot box anyway?
