They preempted that for this?

I miss the good old days when this thread had some honest-to-goodness mind-boggling pre-emptions in it. A middle school pageant pre-empting MLB, a special on some local do-gooder pre-empting "Friends", that execrable Christian Children's Fund pitch featuring kids with cleft palates in the Philippines pre-empting anything? Now, it's all routine stuff that happens every single year, over and over, to the same shows on the same stations.

The high school wrestling pre-emption of college basketball is more in keeping with what I miss, although I realize that wrestling (the legit kind) is big in several states, including Iowa.
Sorry it doesn’t happen as much anymore. Although last year WSOC did bump NEW The Conners and Goldbergs episodes to late night for a special about overpriced housing. They had a separate thread for the network preemptions on here but then shut it down. 🤷

In fairness, a lot of it is silly. A regularly scheduled NFL program? How one station in Podunk reschedules some second and third run sitcoms? Yeah, pushing off a network sports event (and not the weekend filler like amateur clown rodeo competitions or whatever dreck—like honest-to-goodness major programs) for Matlock reruns—that’s a curiosity. That there is a storm alert wherever that cuts off the 19th daily run of Family Feud?

Ps—the answer they cut off on the Feud episode had something to do with body parts and functions. Like the other 18 episodes that day.

That's the truth. The 2023-24 season in Des Moines Iowa hasn't picked up hardly any of the new syndicated shows or picked up syndicated shows that have been on for awhile like Access Hollywood and one show like Extra was dropped this season in syndication this year and replaced by a rerun of the 10pm News.

Then KDSM Fox 17 airs three episodes each of Judge Judy and Family Fued a day Monday through Friday while they air Judge Judy on the weekends to one episode each. They also air Family Fued on the weekends but depending on how many sports is on or not enough sports it's between 2-4 episodes of Family Fued on the weekends.

As for KCWI 23 The CW airs four episodes of Hot Bench a day Monday through Friday. One at 8:30 am. Then 2 episodes for a full hour at 10am then one in the overnight hours at 3am.

Fox stations around America will preempt regularly scheduled program tomorrow as the Daytona 500 will be run tomorrow instead of today due to Daytona Beach, FL having a prolonged rain event forcing NASCAR to postponed both today's Cup Series race and yesterday's Xfinity Series race to tomorrow (yesterday race was meant to run but was delayed before being postponed yesterday by NASCAR to Monday knowing they couldn't get it in yesterday as well as today).

So Fox will preempt programing starting at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT tomorrow afternoon so they can air the Daytona 500, meanwhile the Xfinity Race will preempt late Monday morning-early Monday afternoon programming on FS1 (or push it to FS2) beginning at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT.

The Daytona 500 gets bounced to Monday at 4PM Eastern on FOX. I'm not sure what time coverage will start, but here in Hartford one or two reruns of People's Court will be preempted along with FOX 61 News at 5PM and 6PM and reruns of Young Sheldon at 7PM.

Today FOX 61 aired reruns of Pawn Stars all afternoon borrowed from sister station CW 20.

Coverage is at 4pm as Fox has 2 basketball games tomorrow at noon and 2pm Eastern
Fox gave the network back to affiliates for the race spot. My local fox in Mankato had some car fixing shows on.

This will be on regular Fox or FS1 (the race itself)?
