This fall on the Local Stations

Does anyone know what is all coming, leaving and moving on the local TV Channels in Cleveland? I've seen commercials for...

Anderson Cooper on 19, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on 43, The Big Bang Theory on 8, and Dr. Oz replacing Oprah on 5. I did see on TitanTV that Til Death is supposed to be on 55, and that America Now is heading to 19.

What is coming and changing for the fall?

Nate Burkus and Family Feud are going from 19 to 43.

55 has a new dating show called "Excused" airing late nights.

43 has a new hour long news/talk/viral show called "Right This Minute" at 8 a.m. after the morning news. (and since this show is a joint effort between Raycom and Scripps--among others--it will replay at 1 a.m. on 5).

Some of the headling stuff that is debuting in the fall include "30 Rock", "American Dad", and British import Jeremy Kyle's new talk show.

Common sense would seem to indicate "30 Rock" goes to 55 (to match up with "The Office"), "American Dad" to 43 (to match up with "Family Guy"), and Kyle to either 8, 43, or 55...but we shall see.

"America Now" is an interesting concept. It's another Raycom venture, this time, an in-house newsmagazine with content featured from all of their stations, including WOIO. A 9:00AM start time for that is kinda odd, but after all, in a year WOIO will have to wedge "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" into their 7:00PM hour.

Wondering how WJW will fit "Big Bang" into their schedule. It almost looks like they could drop either "Access Hollywood" or TMZ, in addition to "New Christine..." in order to make room.

43 is getting "30 Rock" (!!!) and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." No sign of where "American Dad" is headed, but would they really air it at midnight when "Family Guy" is now pegged for a 5:30PM airing?

It also looks like 8's four-hour court block remains intact, despite Nancy Grace abandoning "Swift Justice."

Jeremy Kyle is also headed to 43 at 1PM.

I wonder what will happen to "Access Hollywood" and "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire." WJW, ironically dropped "Access Hollywood Live" this summer for two extra episodes of "Judge Judy," seems like they want to rid of Billy Bush and co.

Is "American Dad" supposed to be in syndication this year? No mention of that show was made on Cleveland.com when they wrote on what is coming to the local stations this fall.

I think shows like "America's Court with Judge Ross," "Judge Karen's Court," and "Judge Pirro" have been renewed but dropped in Cleveland. I could be wrong.

Judge Pirro was cancelled, Judge Ross and Judge Karen were renenwed, but won't air in Cleveland.

Makes sense, Judge Ross and Judge Karen both offered nothing new from other court shows. Ross was the dullest of all. 43 was smart to not bring his show back. Karen wasn't too bad, but I sense 55 wanted stronger fare than her show.

I'm really digging 43's schedule this fall, one of the best they've had in years - Nate Burkus, Family Feud, Judge Mathis, Jeremy Kyle, Steve Wilkos, Jerry Springer, Maury, The Simpsons, Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock and Two and a Half Men. Plus, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia at night. That sounds like a cool schedule to me.

Plus, I got a programming note e-mail from 55, where the two Tyler Perry sitcoms Meet The Browns and House of Payne are moving to the 5 - 6pm hours on weekdays probably replacing Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader and Don't Forget The Lyrics. The comedy line up is likely to include the Tyler Perry shows, Til Death, Everybody Loves Raymond and one or two other shows included. 43's line up sounds better than 55's for a change.

WBNX's Fall 2011 Schedule

Here's Channel 55's fall lineup off of their website:

http://www.wbnx.com/schedule/index_fall.php

WHAT'S NEW?

A bonus hour of The People's Court
Two hours of Law and Order: Criminal Intent
Dr. Drew's Lifechangers
House of Payne and Meet The Browns between 5pm and 6pm
Til Death
Frasier, According to Jim and Everybody Hates Chris on late night airings
Cops
Excused

WHAT'S GONE?

Judge Karen's Court
The Tyra Banks Show
Don't Forget The Lyrics
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Law and Order: SVU
Deadliest Catch

I have to say, 55's line up doesn't excite me too much as it had in the past. It will be interesting to see how a double dose of People's Court and of Law and Order: CI does in the fall.

8 has double-dipped with Judge Judy at the 11AM hour since late May, when they dropped "Access Hollywood Live."

Even though she's still popular, that's overkill IMO.

Fox 8 will debut a newly-repackaged half-hour of "Big Chuck & Lil' John" classic skits on Saturdays, starting this Saturday at 11 AM. From what I hear, they have recorded new intros and interstitials for it.

That's nice Fox 8 is bringing back Big Chuck and Lil' John. They need to make it an hour. That would be more worth watching than anything else on Saturday mornings.

Also, with Fox 8 airing Browns Insider, does that mean the end of the team's programming on Channel 3? Speaking of 3, are they still doing Browns Pregame Huddle and Browns Tonight?

Last, I've been checking the schedules, and I think Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has been dropped by CBS 19 and Cleveland altogether. Is another station picking up the game show?

If the BC & LJ revival catches on, they'll expand it.

"Browns Insider" is the TV equivalent of "Browns Daily" on WKNR...it's a team produced program that's offered to any station that wants to air it. It's essentially a team infomercial. WKYC is still doing "Pregame Huddle" and "Browns Tonight", but they cancelled "The Point After" (probably because the Robin Swoboda anchored 7 p.m. newscast is doing well in the ratings, so they don't want to screw with it).

"Millionaire" is persona non grata in Cleveland. 19 dropped it, and nobody else picked it up.

Just Caught the Big Chuck and Lil John Revival:

Too many commercials, but that's TV these days..As OMW said, there are new Interstitials (We'll Be Right Back, etc..) Chuck and John Introduce some of the skits. some of which arent on any of their DVD's as yet..Some I've never seen before..(Not that they're new..Don't expect them to produce any new skits..)

The way the show is set up, It wouldnt be hard at all to expand to an hour..

I saw the BC/LJ revival too. At first, I thought it was going to be just skits with graphics, but having Chuck and John do intros was nice. It's funny with just a green screen and the two, but no audience like Couch Potato Theater. It's even more funny that Fox 8 brought them back period. I guess with the station no longer owned by Fox, but just being an affiliate, has given them more leway.

I will also say that My 43 The Block's weekday lineup looks better than WBNX - The CW's. More variety and better comedy choices too.

I have a feeling FOX 8 is going to get the Browns preseason games if Channel 3 chooses not to air them. CBS 19 will beg and beg, but Randy Lerner won't budge.

I indeed haven't heard anything, but I'd take that bet as well.

WJW seems like they'd go after it harder than WEWS would (not necessarily directly because of the new relationship with the team show).

I think the chances are relatively zero for Reserve Square on this one. No matter how many clothespins they supply for Mr. Lerner's nose...

I even noticed that there is supposed to be "The Bill Cunningham Show" on this fall, but it will be seen only in big markets, but not Cleveland. Bill is the host of a show on WLW in Cincinnati and WXIX in that city will air the show. Ironically, Cincinnati is also the only city in Ohio that's airing the show.

There are also supposed to be a number of new court shows coming, but none are slated to air locally. I think America is tired of court shows. I know I am. Sounds like Cleveland is being more selective of what shows should on their stations instead of going all that's offered.

Looking at the affiliate list, Willie doesn't seem to have hopped the Tribune-Local TV divide (else he'd be on WJW here).

The station in Cincy is a Raycom station, but that's just a local thing since he's local there.
