When a program airs with good audio quality, WGUN sounds very good. We have a DX50 solid state transmitter and the same audio processing as the other major stations in town.
As you go further up the AM dial your coverage, for a given power, gets worse. A 5000 watt station, at 550 Khz, has better coverage than a 50,000 watt station at 1010 KHZ. WGUN's signal is not on par with WSB, WCNN, or WGST.....but not due to inferior facilities. It's just the physics of radio signals.
News/Talk requires an incredible amount of start-up cash to be successful and Atlanta is not really a 3 news/talk station market anyway. The station is profitable but the family would like to see more of it's potential met. I'm sure it could be improved!!
WGUN is a unique marketing tool.....you should reconsider using the station if it fits your business' marketing model. It works for lots of other folks....might just work for you too!
