THIS TV, TUFF TV, OLDIE GOLDIE NETWORK ..............AND OTHER SUB CHANNELS

Somebody in New York and Chicago needs to jump in.

I'm from the Chicago market, & I will fill in some of the info I know. Here's what subchannels are available to our stations:

2.1 - RF 12 WBBM-TV (CBS) - None, because it's a CBS O&O, & they don't allow subchannels on O&O stations.

5.1 - RF 29 WMAQ (NBC) - 5.2 is currently a weather radar channel, but on November 1, it becomes Chicago Nonstop, which is modeled after New York Nonstop on WNBC. 5.3 has Universal Sports

7.1 - RF 7/44 WLS-TV (ABC) - They current broadcast on both channels, but work is being done at the Sears Tower to broadcast permanently on 44. 7.1 & 7.2 are 720p HD channels. 7.2 is Livewell Network (formerly Livewell HD, but HD was removed from the name now that it's expanding beyond the ABC O&O stations) & 7.3 is Accuweather.

9.1 - RF 19 WGN-TV (CW) - They currently have an unmapped channel that was originally The Tube, LATV, and will now carry Antenna TV in January. Once Antenna TV is on the air, it get mapped back to 9.2.

11.1 - RF 47 WTTW (PBS) This station has 3 subchannels: 11.2 is WTTW Prime, a 24 hour primetime channel programmed by WTTW. 11.3 is Create (this was originally carried on WYIN, but dropped it after the cost of the network was too much, & WTTW picked it up). 11.4 is V-Me.

13.1 - RF 4 WOCK-CD 13.1 is Mega TV. 13.2 is analog simulcast of WOCH-CA. 13.3 is LATV (originally on WGN-TV 9.2, but Tribune dropped it from all their stations that carried it). 13.4 was added recently, and is religious programming in Korean.

20.1 - RF 21 WYCC (PBS) WYCC wastes a channel by carrying an SD simulcast on 20.2. 20.3 is Mhz Worldview.

23.2 - RF 39 WWME-LD (Ind) programmed by Weigel Broadcasting carrying classic comedy shows, that they call MeTV. Channel is mapped the way it is, because they have 23.1 mapped from RF 27, & because of it, some tuner can't handle it that well. Also, if one channel from RF 27 loses its mapping, you have to do a rescan, because some tuners won't recognize any part of RF 27 as mapped channels 26.1 - 26.6.

24.1 - RF 20 WPVN-LD (Ind) This station has 24.1 as WPVN-DT & 24.2 WPVN D2 (not sure what's on these channels as I'm not in their broadcasting area). 24.3 is some Access channel (Not sure what it is) 24.4 will become the 24 hour Polvision Network, which currently leases 6 hours a day during the week & 4 hours on weekends on WCIU 26.6. That will end & will explain with WCIU. Rumor has it that WPVN-LD will become the RTV affiliate, but I hear that has yet to happen. No full power station shows interest in RTV.

26.1 - RF 27 WCIU (Ind) 26.1 is all syndicated programming (both first run & off-network shows), plus sports that's farmed over to them when WGN-TV can't air them, due to either CW programming commitments (most likely answer), or because WGN-TV can't air 2 sports programs at the same time. 26.2 is a simulcast of WWME-LD MeTV (see 23.2 WWME-LD). 26.3 is currently a simulcast of analog channel 48 WCUU-CA (formerly WMEU-CA) and is MeToo, which is classic drama shows. 26.3 will remain MeToo in November, & I believe will also become a subchannel to WWME-LD. 26.4 is This TV, and Weigel Broadcasting (owner of WCIU) is part owner of This TV. So they will carry This TV in markets they own stations. 26.6 is currently FBT, WCIU's original brokered ethnic programming, but will come to an end in December. 26.6 (supposedly there will also be a 26.5 as well) will become U Too (will replace MeToo on analog 48), which will reair many popular shows in different timeslots, plus add some independent programming that isn't being shown anywhere else. Weigel Broadcasting makes the best use of their subchannels.

32.1 - RF 31 WFLD (Fox) No subchannels. Don't know their reason, but they have none at this time.

35.1 - RF 10 WWTO (TBN) This station is about 80 miles from Chicago, & currently only covers the western suburbs of Chicago right now. 35.1 is TBN. 35.2 is Church Channel. 35.3 is JCTV. 35.4 is Enlace USA. 35.5 is Smile Of A Child. A satellite station joke. Because this station hasn't been on the air that long, & due to not reaching most of the market, WWTO is the only full power station that has been denied must carry status by the FCC (also because this station is simply a satellte station, which airs no local programming). So cable companies aren't required to carry WWTO.

38.1 - RF 43 WCPX (Ion) Ion Media is a complete joke by running satellite stations around the country. 38.1 is Ion Television. 38.2 is Qubo. 38.3 is Ion Life.

40.1 - RF 40 WESV-LD station is currently off the air while it flash cuts to digital. It was a former TBN translator. Once on the air, it'll become an Estrella TV affiliate.

44.1 - RF 45 WSNS 44.1 is Telemundo. 44.2 is Inmigrante TV, which airs immigration news updates, & has a local number to call for getting an immigration lawyer.

48.2 - RF 32 WCUU-LD The digital channel hasn't signed on yet, but once it does, it'll be U Too. This will also be one of Weigel's crazy mapping channels. WCUU-CA is still broadcasting in analog on 48, and is currently MeToo.

50.1 - RF 51 WPWR-TV (My TV) They don't have any mapped channels, but every so often, some TV's can pickup an unmapped 51.6, which airs a weather radar from NOAA.

56.1 - RF 17 WYIN (PBS) This station serves NW Indiana & covers NW Indiana & the south & western suburbs of Chicago, plus the city of Chicago. They have 3 subchannels set aside (56.1 - 56.4), but only 1 is being used right now, while the other 2 are simulcasting 56.1. 56.1 & 56.2 are 720p HD channels. Right now, only 56.3 isn't part of the simulcast, & is a locally programmed PBS Kids Go channel. They're the only station in the Chicago market that has SD channels 56.3 & 56.4 in widescreen.

57.1 - RF 30 WDCI-LD (or W30CK-D as I originally remembered it). It's a Daystar affiliate with no subchannels.

60.1 - RF 50 WXFT (Telefutura) The only subchannel is an SD simulcast of 60.1. Before the conversion to 1080i HD, WGBO-DT used to simulcast on 60.2.

62.1 - RF 36 WJYS (Ind) This station is a joke, as they air mostly infomercials, but do air some brokered religious programming.
62.1 & 62.4 are infomercials & brokered religious programming. 62.2 is a simulcast of analog 34 WEDE-CA, which airs all religious programming.

66.1 - RF 38 WGBO-DT (Univision) No subchannels, & not sure if they ever will. Before the conversion to 1080i HD, they carried WXFT on 66.2

Not much in Tallahassee...
WCTV 6.1 CBS, 6.2 MY NETWORK/THIS TV
WFSU 11.1 PBS, 11.2 THE Florida Channel, 11.3 Create, 11.4 FKN

WTWC 40.1 NBC, 40.2 the Cool TV music videos
WTLH 49.1 FOX, 49.2 CW

Comcast airs the main and the subchannels, although in the weirdest of places.
WCTV CBS is on 9, but WCTV2 is on 14 and 227.
WTWC is on 12 WTWC2 is on 216
WTXL is on 7 and its weather is on 205
WTLH is on 10 and the CW is on 6
WFSU is on 5 and the subchannels are on 4 and somewhere else

SINCE SOMEONE BROUGHT THIS THREAD BACK.........

I'm now not very impressed with any of these subs.

THIS TV- old B grade movies
TUFF TV-a division of Retro TV (that says it all)
OLDIE GOLDIE-only a local thing, the same repeated shows over and over

Comparing either of these to Me-TV or Antenna TV is like comparing the Model-T to a 747.
