This TV

Does anyone watch tis channel? It's supposed to be 24 hours of Movies. But everytime i tune n, it is a movie I've never heard of. Can't believe there are SO many POS movies out there!!!! POS, Piece Of {censored}!

There is no need for using rude language, not even the initials for such language. As for ThisTV, I watch their programming occasionally, even though not all of their programming is broadcast locally by WFGX-TV (in the designated market area of Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida) due to their commitments to syndicated programs, local programs, paid programs, and Jewelry Television programming.

As for the programming I was able to see locally, I watched "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", "Inspector Gadget", "Gadget Boy's Adventures in History", "Sonic Underground", and "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" on a regular basis. I discovered some theatrical movies along the way also such as "The Pit and the Pendulum" (the version released in 1961), which was my favorite discovery.

I hope to receive ThisTV programming all of the time someday. I would suggest WFGX-TV broadcasts all ThisTV programming on a new sub-channel while continuing to broadcast their other programming on the main channel with a few new additions from local sources or national TV programming syndicates.

A 24X7 movie channel that shows movies you've never heard of? Amazing!

I am constantly surprised at the variety of movies on THIS but I would not expect them to show just the big box office presentations. If I like a movie that much I buy or record it and put it in my library. I would not want THIS or any other movie service showing a "top 40" playlist the way some radio stations beat to death a small selection of songs.

Consider yourself lucky and search for up-and-coming actors before they were names. Who knows? You might actually like one or two of those old potboilers. ;D

I have watched some of their old programs (Mr. Ed, Bat Masterson, etc.) but not their
movies. You have to be a big movie person to watch them or Bounce TV.......but there must
be a lot out there.

I can see where there should probably be a place for them on TV, but with so many movie
channels already, is it overkill???? Where does the madness stop?

I watch THIS alot since I cut the cord. The channel caters to the elderly who dont have pay tv. They show alot of westerns/war movies like MeTV does during the day. Free TV is always a good thing. ;)

I was surprised 2 or 3 months ago, & saw Saturday Night Fever (PG version) on This TV. When I saw that, I looked up to see when they added Paramount movies, & Paramount was added back in February. For those not aware, but there's an R version (all uncut) & a PG version (a few scenes edited completely out & some scenes reshot to remove the profanity) of Saturday Night Fever. I know because I have both versions on video. I don't know what other libraries This TV will add, but it's nice that Paramount is now part of their library, instead of just MGM movies that Turner Broadcasting System doesn't own.

Ahh, that would explain why Pretty In Pink was on today. When I saw Paramount Pictures presents A John Hughes film I was a little confused because I'm so used to seeing the MGM lion or the Cannon/Globus logos appear.

They're kind of like an independant tv station for the whole country minus quality newer sitcoms the backbone of independant tv stations back in the day along with movies of course I also like that they do movie bumpers between movies and commercial breaks.

They did improve their movie choices over the past year.........with some newer ones.

So, as they are a sister to Me-TV I'm wondering which is more profitable? My guess is
that Me-TV pays a lot more for shows than THIS does for movies. I'd expect THIS to
get more out of their $$$ than Me-TV does.

The movies are good for what they are. I do enjoy the old TV shows that are aired. I wish they would add "Green Acres" to the mix since somehow it is an MGM property.

It's nice that 'Stargate SG-1' repeats are on THIS, but what about newer 'Stargate' series? After all, MGM does own THIS, AND it produces TV shows, so why not make some THIS exclusives? Like new Pink Panther cartoons?

Our local independent station that carries ThisTV on a subchannel has told me they have been trying hard to get on the local Cox system in Phoenix for the past two years with no luck, while the ABC station had no trouble getting Live Well (programming no one asked for) on cable. They are a duopoly, and the second station doesn't have any subchannel - the lack of cable carriage is why they haven't put anything such as Antenna TV on there. I guess they don't believe there are OTA viewers left.

"I wish they would add "Green Acres", since it somehow is an MGM property."

They did have it last I saw (really early in the morning, like 0000 or 0100 Pacific, I think.) Usually opposite "Mr. Ed". Did they take it off recently?

Granted, I haven't really seen THIS since moving flats, because being 200 feet away from where I previously was apparently makes all the difference as to my ability to receive KATU.

Pretty soon, I'm going to be in one of those short station ID promos promoting 'This'. It's easily one of the best of the DTV netlets out there.

Our South Alabama cable system gets the fulltime This channel from WCOV 20.3 Montgomery (plus carriage of Pensacola's WFGX 35 that Mario-500 mentioned). I've channel-surfed and stopped on ThisTV several times, landing on obscure movies I'd have never found on my own. Often that obscurity hasn't been a bad thing--many of these flicks are/were stinkers. Yet there are times that I'm sucked into one, either by the utter cheesiness of the film compared to today, an actor/actress I like, or on occasion--a half-to-wholly interesting plot.

I first grew to like the channel last summer when it decided to do a night of Pam Grier blaxploitation movies--who does that? Coffy, Sheba, Baby and Friday Foster back to back to back. Just last night, I stumbled upon The Hot Spot, a Don Johnson-Virginia Madsen movie that Dennis Hopper directed in 1990. In the last few weeks, I've remembered watching How To Murder Your Wife (1965, starring Jack Lemmon), Making Mr. Right (1985, with John Malkovich playing a dorky scientist and his android twin), and 2005's Harsh Times (Christian Bale & Eva Longoria, newest movie I've seen on the channel).

Don't look now but ThisTV began showing reruns of the smash hit scif-fi series Stargate SG-1 tonight (Or at least fairly recently)

Cheers ;D

That's part of it's charm. There is a certain entertainment value in watching really BAD old movies and
pondering "oh, boy....what were THEY thinking?" (plus the inherent ego boost of knowing you could have
actually done better yourself)

The 1970's were apparently the Golden Age of Cinema Stink Bombs.

Not necessarily, though the 60s and 70s brought a bumper crop of low-budget laughable horror films, much of them produced by Roger Corman's American International Pictures. Corman is still with us - age 86. Jack Nicholson got his start with Corman, who also made some good films from time to time.

The 40s and 50s were also the golden era of Grade B and C stink bombs.

Growing up in the 60s, I used to get an occasional laugh watching late night movies on KCOP 13 in LA. KCOP was a low-budget indy and ran only the worst movies - generally from the 1940s. Generally light comedies and bad detective films (too bad to qualify as "film noir"). I have no idea what the original market was for these films. It was before the drive-in theatre era, which is where most bad films were shown in the 50s and 60s - and I don't think they were anticipating revenue from television yet. I guess there were some theatres that were so low-rent that they actually showed these bombs.
