Thoughts on John Gambling's Show?

It'll be interesting what CC does with WOR when they officially take over.

I've heard Gambling a few times in the past. He reminds me of the Peter Griffin character from Family Guy.

Gambling is inoffensive and does make for a decent interviewer - but he seems to be wallpaper and just something to fill between news, traffic and weather. CC won't get rid of him, unless they think he makes too much money (and if they think $750k/yr is too much in Market #1, woof). If I'm Joan Hamburg, I'm more worried - same with the Gov.

With that Connoisseur Media objection, don't expect CC to take over till January.

Hamburg makes money right now, but if it's put on their own syndicated Glenn Beck or pay Hamburg to kabbitz to 80 year old women, what do you think they're going to do?

Patterson's show is such a snooze fest. He has no personality on the air.

The current Joan Hamburg show opening is interesting ... words to the effect of, "We love you Joan ... you are New York ... we'll follow you anywhere!" Is this an omen?

With the average age of her audience, I would suspect only one place left to follow her... (ba-dum-ching!)

It's great to have Gambling & Co. back on the air (beginning at 7 am Wednesday from temporary digs at Clear Channel.) I've missed hearing his perspective on the storm and its aftermath.

The morning show has a new starting time? At 7 ? Can you elaborate on "temporary digs at Clear Channel" ?

I don't know the details but apparently the WOR studios are without phones or internet so Clear Channel is making studio space available for the WOR morning show elsewhere -- I guess it wasn't possible yesterday until 7. Gambling still didn't have access to a landline/hybrid so he did interviews on his cell phone by holding it up to the microphone! It must be hugely frustrating to be hamstrung by this lack of facilities.

They couldn't hook it up the board?
Probably somebody could. I doubt that Gambling has that particular authority. ;)
