KGSR has the strongest signal in central Texas. Yet they cannot present themselves listenable to the Austin market.

They are a rimshot thanks to their roots licensed to Killeen. Their signal is strongest over a lot of empty land as a result. Univision 62 has the same issue... and the same tower near Bertram in rural Burnet County. Bertram is 35 miles from downtown Austin while the West Lake Hills tower farm is ten times closer. Also remember Hays and Bastrop Counties are also in the Austin metro, and they are 60 miles from the Bertram tower.

The original format on the Bertram tower, CHR KBTS "B-93" had some impressive ratings in the late 80's. Didn't last after KHFI version 2.0 launched on 96.7.

B-93 and KHFI...what great times and great memories.

I say bring back B-93! (if only I could bring back those memories as well).

It didn't help B-93 to be bought by KHFI's parent company. One of them had to switch formats.

They could bring back B-93 as a Classic Top 40 station playing 80s Rhythmic Hits. Different companies now.

I don't remember B-93 from the 80's, but rather late 89-92 when it had a dance lean (as did KHFI).

Anybody remember the "Jam Stamp"? It seems they always used to play "State Farm (Madhouse Mix)" by Yaz(oo) on Friday or Saturday nights as the song right before they went into mixing.

Ahh...I miss that time period. Lots of Erasure, Depeche Mode, the Shamen, Corina, Cause & Effect, Anything Box, Stevie B, etc...

Might as well just bring back MEGA 93.3 then. Mega is more recent and played new dance hits as well as the oldschool from B-93 days. Only people who are from Austin or moved here at the time of B-93 would remember it but Mega is likely known more due to it starting up in 2001.

Well, it is perhaps more likely known because of the internet age. Good station, but didn't last very long, although many of the dance stations didn't.
