Does anybody know a local expert on obtaining and building a fm translator radio signal? If so, email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Dude, you were supposed to have a major announcement on Cowhead's show like 2 weeks ago? Now you want to know how to apply for a FM Translator? You're killing me!
Translation: "Well?"

So if 100.7 goes Classic Hits/Rock then does 97.9 go to WFLA FM? What happens to the translators? They go Hot AC ? Does this make sense ???

Since the translators are designed as a "fill-in" for an AM signal, I would say that WDAE and WHNZ are not outside of the conversation.

I've been getting a weaker signal than usual on 105.9 this evening in east Hillsborough.. wonder if it's due to the wet weather? ??? I'm getting a stronger signal on WOCL-FM than W290BJ

One could think that reviving Thunder is an attempt to draw listeners from WXGL in order to benefit another station . If CC is doing that, the other station would have to be 97.9, but I didn't really think WXTB and the WXGL were in direct competition. It would make more sense to me if CBS was doing this to benefit WRBQ.. Thoughts?

Heard a liner on Thunder going after WXGL. Is this a war and what for.???????????

Heard those promos every now and then too this afternoon..

But for some reason, 100.7 HD-2 just disappeared at 5:00 or so. At first I thought it was just dead air, but the station is really no longer available for the tuner to try getting.

Had to move up to 103.5 HD-2 which is the "other" Thunder program from their national format. The 105.9 translator just isn't an option here, especially under the beatdown of the RF leaving the Riverview antenna farm.

Back on. Engineer having fun I guess.

My only exposure to SiriusXM has been in rentals, but Thunder reminds me of that. A wide music selection, professional if somewhat generic DJ's rather than liners like Cox radio and no commercials. I think it beats the Eagle in everyway except for coverage. But nobody has answered why they think CC is doing this at this time.

Any answer is speculation at this point.

Having two different Thunders doesn't make a whole lot of sense, unless it is an interim format just to keep the translators on the air.

why ?.....probably just to ''make the most'' out of two translators while simultaneously building a station for a potential move to 100.7 at some point possibly. Wait too long and classic rock will be on 98.7.....at least as things look now.

all subject to change of course

The signal is pretty weak at my house in St. Pete. I bought into the hype that this was going to be the Pinellas translator for WFLA... but they're definitely stunting. Perhaps we're going to end up with Thunder AND WFLA on FM soon. That's kind of cool, but watch for 970 to be marginalized immediately. I don't care what happens, as long as it's interesting. Attached is an aircheck I just recorded which includes audio of one of their jabs at the Eagle...

105.9 comes in great all over Hillsborough. Better than 103.9. Why is that?

It appears as though there are 150 reasons. They are all feet.

105.9 DOES have a killer signal for what it is.

Make that 153 reasons with reasons 151 through 153 being location , location, location ! with 105.9's antenna being more centrally located in
Hillsborough county than 103.9.

Better HAAT plus better location equals better overall Hillsborough county coverage.

Picky, picky, picky...

I would think USF would be more centrally located, though.

105.9 is co-located with the Qs on the new "Beaver" Tower off of 41.

Jeff, you did much better than I did in answering MsMusicRadio's question; you had 150 reasons to my 3!

Plus I was going to go into more details as to why your answer was basically the whole story, but for some reason my laptop froze up and I had to post from my iPod. (the iPhone with training wheels, I've been told! :) )

I'm guessing that financial considerations have much to do with their north central Hillsborough location on their campus, not to mention the fact that after their fiasco trying to get everything right with the 89.1 tower in Nokomis, they might be reluctant to try something like that again. As far as their HAAT, not sure why that is not higher, other than maybe FAA regs in reference to the Vandenburg airport or maybe it's strictly financial.

I lost all my texts when the v6 upgrade was insisted upon by the i"Phone"(I would love the job of watering Steve Jobs flowers)

Although, I haven't spoken with anyone directly, I would say it isn't high because the tower was already there. It's free rent.
