Tim Brando Radio Show

So, where's the Tim Brando Radio Show going to appear? He announced this morning that his association with Gow Broadcasting & Yahoo Sports Radio will be ending on Friday...and that he will also announce his new radio provider at that time and reappear on radio sometime in February.

CBS no. ESPN no. Yahoo no. I would guess NBC but they don't start until April. So this only leaves FSR. Maybe he will take over Dan Patrick 9a-noon and Patrick moves to NBC?

I think that it will be CBS Sports. When CBSSR first announced that they would have Feinstein and Rome during Brando's timeslot, I was surprised. But then I looked at the first press release again. It says that affiliates will be able to regionalize their lineups.

I think this could make sense for some affiliates who want programming, but not necessarily national programming. CBS could make Brando's show available in areas that would like his show, particularly the south and other areas with strong college football and basketball followers. I also would not be surprised if they did the same with other shows that were once expected to fill the national lineup, such as:

Boomer & Carton from NYC for the northeast
Tom Tolbert in SF for the West

Great insight. Also add the 2 Live Stews.

I felt the same about Brando joining CBS. I figured it would happen when the network debuted....but was surprised when it didn't. I could see the Brando show being simulcast on the CBS Sports Tv Network and Yahoo on the radio end because Yahoo isn't in the tv business. I have a difficult time seeing the show continuing to be simulcast if the NBC, FOX, or ESPN radio networks are carrying it. The regional concept by CBS makes sense. I think losing the Brando show also means that Yahoo Sports Radio is a step closer to non-existence, as we currently know it. They will no longer have a "national" name sports host..other than during their morning show.

Yeah, it seems more probable now that NBC and Yahoo! merge, especially with how much rearranging Yahoo has done recently. If you put their schedules side by side, you have basically no overlap and only one big hole at the moment, and nearly everyone sees NBC getting Dan Patrick to fill that hole. I expect Bobby Valentine's show to fill that opening through the majority of the baseball season followed by DP's debut sometime near September.

If we learned from the past, it's to never predict sen/oneonone/snr/ysr's demise

Well I guess we won't know who Timmy B's new distribution partner (hint hint CBS Sports Radio) until next week, at the earliest, when his new partner (hint hint CBS Sports Radio) makes some sort of a major announcement. He revealed this morning his radio show will return on another network (hint hint CBS Sports Radio) February 4th. He will continue to do his daily cable tv show without interruption (CBS Sports Net). He also announced a change in his time slot, moving one hour earlier (9am-noon ET) for both cable and his radio show when it re-appears (hint hint CBS Sports Radio).

Wonder if this will be a regional thing..or will Brando's show be taking the place of the current CBS programming during those hours?

John Feinstein does 9a-noon.

It had been inferred to PDs that Feinstein's daily show was not going to be a permanent thing.

No.

Let's just let them fade away into obscurity, a minor footnote (and major embarassment) in the history of sports talk radio.

All Brando talks about it college sports. And his show is hardly entertaining. He needs to adjust to a more national audience in order for it to work if he goes on the CBS net work.

Brando has made a good living for a long time on national radio by talking about college sports, don't know why he would want to change that for CBS, for whom he hosts college football and calls college basketball.

On today's (Mon Jan 21) Brando Show on CBS Sports Network (TV only), Tim indicated that he will not be on CBS Sports Radio. With that, I think that this could be a scenario for the future of his radio show; syndication through CBS Radio and or Cumulus or a newly created network, a la Paul Finebaum, for stations that don't have local programming and don't want CBSSR national programming. They could be focused on stations in the South and Midwest for College Basketball/Football fanbases. This is just a guess with no facts or proof, just an idea. I wish them the best of luck and look forward to listening and watching.

This thought just came to mind, what about Premiere/Fox? The seem to have an upcoming opening. Does he still do basketball games on FSN?

Thank you for being the voice of this situation. Excellent insight. Maybe Patrick is leaving Premiere and going to NBC. Then Brando will go to Premiere in that time slot.

I'm sure DP will end up on NBC Sports Radio at some point..but you'd think he'd be announcing that move before anyone announced to fill his spot. Brando says he's coming back to radio February 4th...so it shouldn't be too long before it's made known to the sports radio universe.

Maybe Brando goes to Fox and Premiere handles DP the same way they did with Rome, by giving stations two choices, bigger name or FSR. If they did that, it'd probably be they figure DP will leave sometime this year, and they have an opportunity to pickup a quality replacement. Or Brando could go to satellite. Lot of shuffling, so many alternate theories.
