Tim Conway Jr. #1, 7p-10p

True. Keep in mind, New Yawkers DON'T commute to work via car like Angelino's.

Agreed, NY is a mass transit city, always was and always will be. I used to be one of those transit riders. However, you have a substantial ring of affluent suburbs surrounding NY. Many of them live and work in those suburbs and commute to their jobs by car. :)

I tried listening to Tim last Friday because I heard that Kennedy was going to be on to pay tribute to Adam Yauch. What a disaster. Kennedy was on the phone, not in-studio unfortunately, and Tim spent more time playing music than letting her talk. It was obvious that he didn't know much about the Beastie Boys because he quickly ran out of things to say and tried to move the subject to MTV in its heyday. "Yeah, I remember watching the Beastie Boys on MTV back in the day. You know who else got heavy airtime on MTV? Dire Straits! Say, let's play 'Money For Nothing' just for the heck of it! We're still on topic, sort of! Forget the woman on the phone who actually knew the dead guy personally, more music!"

I just don't understand how people can stand to listen to this guy. Half the time he obviously knows nothing about his subject matter and is just B.S.ing his way through a segment, and that's for informative topics that actually matter. The rest of the time he does stupid celebrity gossip which usually involves commenting on audio clips, except he doesn't know how to let the clip breathe and keeps stopping every two seconds to talk, and then he rewinds the clip so you get to hear the same thing multiple times. It's maddening.

Not to sound rude, but which age demo do you fall under? 45+?

I am a 24-35er and I laugh my royal tookis off. TCJS is not about being informative or intellectually engaging. It's about taking hilarious audio and riffing the crap out of it.

I have tried since 2001 to find ANY radio product from KIIS to Hannity that I could play in the car and get my peers interested enough to listen. Most of the time, they are reaching over me to plug their iPods in (convincing me that I work in a very dead industry).

Conway's show is the first ever that I can actually play on the car stereo (usually as a podcast) and get my fellow 18-35ers to actually kick back and enjoy. Maybe the stoner humor is a bad symptom of what my generation has to offer this world --- but for our age demo, it's a GOOD, SOLID, HILARIOUS show! Very little politics. Not a G.O.P. stump speech. Just a couple of guys kickin' back some beers and chatting (well, I don't drink --- but you get the idea).

Ultimately, the ratings are a "HUGE SHOUTOUT" ... so TCJS ain't goin' anywhere.

I am a "24-35er" (or is it "18-35er"? you used both terms) who's not a stoner idiot.

Well, the latter part is the problem right there. The show isn't for you even though YOU KNOW YOU LOVE IT!

Yeah, if you listen to KPCC...you probably won't like the Tim Conway Show. I tune in to see what they are talking about, and will stay if it is interesting. I don't care for the "What The Hell Did Jessie Jackson Say" bit (although that is the most popular, with callers from out-of-state).... Also, with Aron Bender reading the Tweets and Facebook posts nearly simultaneously, it does add a different dimension to the show.

Also, as is oft repeated, it is the only local news show at that time spot of all the AM stations.

Sorry. Clarify: I am a 24-35er, friends are 18-35ers (since not all of 'em are 24 yet).

I agree. KPCC and TCJS don't mix. I guess I get sooooooo much news and information throughout the day between cable news, articles on the web, etc., it's nice to find a show that lets me kick back, have a few good laughs, and not worry about the world so much. Because .... as Handel would say: THERE'S A LOT GOING ON, AND IT'S NOT GOOD.

It reminds me of the BBC show Top Gear. Which the show masquerades as a car show, they really get distracted a lot and it's more a "three guys goofing off" than serious auto journalism. TCJS is similar. It pretends to be "KFI" and "news," but it's really a few guys taking the resources of western America's most powerful radio station and goofing off with it. And the show stays PG to PG-13, to boot! ;D

50-thousand watts? THAT'S A WHOLE LOT OF WATTS! ;)

Side note: I do find it interesting that Timmy pokes fun at Handel and occasionally Bill Carol, but NEVER touches John and Ken. In turn, J&K rarely say much about Conway --- until two Fridays back, when a drunk Moist-Line caller began slurring badly, John riffed: "Hey, it's one of Conway's listeners."

He's lame and I never listen to his show anymore. The entertaining show was one in which his dad came on.

He seems to hate the Hollywood celebrity culture, but that is what 75% of his show is. Kardashians are his life's blood.

Similarly, J&K "hate" Arnold and Jerry Brown ... but without 'em, they wouldn't have a show. ;D

The difference being Arnold and Jerry Brown actually have a real impact on our lives. (Well, Arnold not so much anymore.)

...if Timmy indeed is #1, it's only a testament to how lame radio has become at the hands of the beancounters at Chump Channel/Cumulus/CBS/et al...

Timmy's brilliant when does commenting-on-soundbites schtick ... ESPECIALLY when he plays Kardashian clips and interviews Khloe Kardashian who speaks like Chewbacca! Ep ic!

But Aron Bender? Too much of a suckass, know-it-all! Tired of hearing about his Ikea self-kitchen remodel! He should pick up a couple of illegals at Home Depot to pitch in!

You know KFI isnt KPCC when they start playing rock music during their newscasts.

Meh, Bender is fine. Somebody's gotta play the straight man, news voice. I think he contributes a lot more to the show than Shannon Farren on J&K (not that she's that bad, either).

Having done a few failed remodel projects at my place, I can relate to the whole Bender-IKEA schtick.

the news has been so regurgitated throughout the day that he sounds like broken record. yes the traffic always sucks on the 405, someone is always being chased on the 10...

agree IKEA is crap go to Home Depot and build something, there's always ~8 illegals hanging at the one in burbank

I'm in Vegas as well, and I listen to Conway at night, sometimes flipping back and forth between KFI and the Nightside Project on KSL Salt Lake City. Tim is just good listening, better than the infomercials that blanket Vegas stations at night.

I'm in Utah, so I also flip between the same two shows at night. For a city as small as Salt Lake (roughly Vegas-sized), Nightside is a pretty good show. Heck, they have TWO hosts!

I only wish a station in Vegas could also produce a decent local show to listen to.

At least I've got Ethan & Alex on Nightside and Timmy Time on KFI!
