And considering Sports has barely any desireably real share in Orlando, why would you dump out your morning drive time to provide Sports on your only news/talk outlet in the cluster? Last resort?

Blame it on Fidel. The Cubans have been interfering with various signals for years in Florida to get even for Radio Marti. Used to be that when 540 did full power tests at night NASA's go teams at shuttle abort sites in Rota, Spain and Morocco would hear them clearly.
