Tivoli to produce an HD radio this fall!!

say no has no basis, he is just mad because it is going to interfere with his dxing and hes pissed that he new technology which kills his dxing in his parents house is going to make it tougher for him to dx. that is the one and only reason and base for his unitelligible posts.

Currently, satellite radio has 8 million subscribers, at $13/month - gosh, look at all the people hooked up to the Internet, at the very cheapest, $13/month ! Who are you kidding ! HD/IBOC is plain-jane AM/FM programming - nothing new in this technology ! Satellite radio, Internet streaming, cell phone downloads, and, last but not least, iPods have already given the death sentence to HD/IBOC. Just one HD radio in Best Buy (not even plugged in, or had the required dipole antenna), and a whole section devoted to satellite radio - what a joke !

OH MY! You must not know your history! You are 18 arent you.

Oh first of all. There is no implication of forcing anyone to listen to HD Radio. That is YOUR choice.

There got that out of the way....

Lets see......
TV was going to kill radio
8 Tracks were going to kill radio
Cassettes were going to kill radio
CDs were going to kill radio
MP3 players were going to kill radio

See a trend??? An iPod is just a different format fo the same thing. Though I cant find the link, there was a report that iPod TSL is droppping due to the fact that people are getting tired of lsitening to "their" music.

iPos is a great tool for those that like it. Typically it is the younger set of ages. But as people age they care less about their iPod, CD player, Cassette player, as they dont have the time to program the thing. So they tune into radio. Be it terrestrial or satellite.

Help me here, what is so different about Sat radio technology? Or for that matter, internet streaming or cell phone downloads? All of the above have one thing going for them.... they are more difficult for people to obtain the music or talk show they are looking for.

iPods are very small, excellent audio, and can store hundreds of songs, thus bypassing the need to use radio. Funny thing, all of my sons' high-school friends have iPods and/or car satellite radios. Satellite radio offers up to 170 unedited channels, instead of the poor-programming on AM/FM (I think you know that). You know, your argument is very weak. These technologies are portable, unlke HD/IBOC radio. And, don't forget cell phone Internet accces and streaming from the Internet - you have no argument.

Oh yes, the 5000 AM/FM stations, in the US, will be going out of business - get real !

"iPods are very small, excellent audio, and can store hundreds of songs, thus bypassing the need to use radio"

This is great news, now maybe you can tell me where the dial is so that I can listen to all the live programing which I-Pods are known for. I really should catch up on the latest news and I also would love to listen to this eveninigs Mets game, while I watch the video on my TV. Where can I find that on my I-pod?

"You know, your argument is very weak. These technologies are portable, unlke HD/IBOC radio."

Wait, does this mean that I have to throw out my computer too? It's not portable either and my television and my refridgerator and my washer/dryer and that floor lamp I love so much. Get real and come up with a reasonable argument for once.

"And, don't forget cell phone Internet accces and streaming from the Internet - you have no argument."

What is it with you and fee based devices? Do you really work for a billing agency? Let's see, on the way home remember to sign up for that cell phone service and don't forget that in NY state it's illegal to use them in a car without a headset. I just love the sound of cell phone delivered audio. It's so.. Soooo.. Compressed, yea tha's it and when I hit that no service area I can just hum along until service returns. Oh wait, you were talking about playing back prerecorded entertainment, not live news, sports or music. I keep forgetting. Well sometimes it is nice to have access to live information instead of living in a prerecorded world. By the way, there's a rumor that radio is going to start provide live programing. Wow, now that is heavy!!

You did not counter with one fact, as usual. These new technologies have left HD/IBOC Radio in the dust ! Between the FCC and RIAA/Congress, HD/IBOC Radio is fighting a losing battle. There is no public interest in HD/IBOC Radio. Best Buy didn't even have its sole HD/IBOC radio hooked up, and it was in the corner with the boom boxes, not with the satellite radio's huge display area. David Eduardor just admitted/posted that the HD Raptor has reception issues, because it needs a dipole antenna (what a joke). Let's take another look at the lack of radios in retail stores:

What the heck is an "HD Raptor"? You mean the "Recepter HD"? ::)

Isn't HD Radio a new service? Give it time to get noticed and into stores. I notice that you have conveniently missed the survey that states that many people would be interested in purchasing an HD radio if the price was in the $100 or $150 range. It's slowly getting there. The fact that more manufacturers are going to manufacture HD radios will only help that (Tivoli, Rotel, and Radiosophy just to name a few).

I would get into the second article that you linked, but I don't have the time right now. Maybe later.

Just to make it clear, I don't mean any kinds of direspect to you, Say No.

Thanks for the correction on the Receptor HD... Well, manufacturers can make all the HD/IBOC radios they want, but since there is no cunsumer interest, and with a very good chance that HD/IOBC will become stalled, it will make no difference. HD Radio is just a poor redo of old technology - do you really think anyone cares about the audio quality of AM/FM, which already is very good - with all the new technology available, who cares about AM/FM, the programming content leaves a lot to be desired (THAT may help AM/FM broadcasting, not inferior audio with less coverage). Not one of my sons' freinds listen to radio - are you kidding, they get excited about their iPods and cell phones ! HD Radio is not even portable (antenna and power consumption issues) - do you really think people give a damn about table-top receivers - this is a portable society ! Who wants an ugly Receptor HD radio, with a dipole antenna, that just gets AM/FM around the house ! Give me a break !
