TJ and Songs Per Hour

well I guess he had gotten in trouble for comments made on Tuesday, but I did not hear those. Today he spoke in general terms and referred to the "new competition" as "underdeveloped teenagers". I am fairly certain this was directed at AMP, not Hot, because he said James would be a better fit "over there" ....

Music wise Kiss actually has a broader older playlist... AMP is a newbie CHR with a tighter playlist... I actually dont think i will ever like this morning show on 103.3... And rightfully so Matty is actually right... I heard it... its the Truth quite frankly... It did not bother me... A fact is a fact...AMP Radio is kind of weak late bloomer that probably will never really catch on until Matty Exits the doors of Kiss... I honestly would rather stick with Hot 96.9 Baltazar and Pebbles and flip to Matty in between just to listen to the chatter because they are entertaining. Things could potentially pick up once Matty is gone until then... Count me out of Amp for the morning.

I feel kind of bad for anyone up against Matty, seen him slay too many. Well, not too bad, I mean a 3.5 hour shift is sweet.

In my opinion, it's radio, theres only so much you can do, so no matter how good you may be, your ability to convert listeners is minimized. Once Matty exits, the field will level out. Until then, I'd rent versus buy if I'm up against him.

What I've heard of T.J's show is just plain bad. It sounds fake. Everything sounds like a planned "bit." To be fair, it is his first week, and it probably will get better. It is also hard to be funny when all you can do is PG-13 humor in between Bieber and Keisha records, so its not all his fault.

What AMP has had going for it from day one was that it was the anti-Kiss. Lighter commercial loads, edgier music, new music first, and lots of it. And I don't think there's really anything wrong with the host; the show is reminiscent of his work in the past. Really, I'm just not sure what AMP was thinking with this type of show. With Matty as strong as ever, Baltazar and Pebbles back on the air, and K&K in the same building, it just seems a duplication of what already exists... and makes AMP just seem like a poor man's Kiss. The niche for a music-heavy CHR morning show for the audience that just wants to hear tunes is yet again unfilled.

I disagree, just a little. The Evolution fills the void in the morning as a heavy CHR/EDM music station. The problem is--how many people get that tiny signal.

They say that a successful morning show is "familiar people doing unexpected things." Take
that for whatever it's worth...
But I believe this battle will rely heavily on promotions and marketing...I predict lots of cash prizes
this spring...and lots of van appearances...it's kind of a throw-back radio war in that respect...

I don't know if its me, and maybe I'm just not getting it correctly, but the video really seemed weak. I didn't find myself laughing, and I felt like he was trying too hard. I know this is just the beginning, but I see mornings not being that strong for AMP. Matty will have the upper end on them, as well as K&K and B&P.
