Today's Warm 106.9 tweaks format

This is a little bit strange: There is no indication that the construction permit was ever built out at Four Times Square. The only 302 is for an auxiliary location at ESB but that flies in the face of not being able to afford space there!

There are numerous threads on the New York board on this subject. Here's a link to a story that outlines their troubles with ESB and the move to 4TS:

Bottom line with regards to Seattle is that Pacifica isn't looking to buy a radio station in Seattle, and KBCS runs Democracy Now.

They were under an eviction notice, and went through all the steps to move when they managed to put together a package to pay off the considerable back rent at the ESB. My point is that they were being forced to move because they did not have the money to stay at the ESB.

Prior to that, they could not afford to keep the nicer studios, and had to yank everything out an move into a lower rent district. The Pacifica stations are troubled by a multi-tier administrative structure that is so complex and contentious that even a book has been written about it. But the big issue is that the libertarian conscientious objector principles that caused Pacifica to be founded ("Pacifica" meaning "peace") have morphed or changed over the years and there are times the stations do not seem to have a raison d'etre.

And I'm saying if you or others who live in Seattle actually have something local to say, you should say it. Maybe instead of getting hung up on where people live, you take charge of the conversation and MAKE it local. Is their imaging voice local? Tell me. There's a great jingle house in Seattle that I've used from time to time. Is this station using them? Tell me. If you're local, act local. Otherwise, you're right, I can find out everything I need on the web. Don't have a tantrum because someone is taking over your turf.

We do say it, but then you and the "co-adminstrator" manage to take it to Miami, New York, San Diego or LA.

Thank you for your Reelworld business.

Thank you guys! We could debate them swapping with Nash FM but I won't do that on this thread.

KCMU (the station that is now KEXP) ran Pacifica news every afternoon in 1990 and for some time thereafter. I don't know when they canned it. It was a very big deal for them to get the news program, though.

Now, getting back to the thread's original topic...Warm posted the morning show job calling it a "solo host" opening: https://jobs.hbispace.com/web/106752/job_5524_41-18.html
I personally don't know how well (if any, other than working with others at i<3) he's been talked about around the Hubbardplex, but I somehow see Bender getting the gig. The guy's in his at least upper 40's, and Warm has some audience of what were his former core Kiss demos, plus name recognition. My guess.

Funny you mention Bender - he continued the tradition of raising money for Seattle Children's even though he wasn't on the air. Brought in over $61k. That's impressive! https://giveto.seattlechildrens.org/bendernation

WBAI moved to 4TS last summer.

As I reported in NorthEast Radio Watch (and on current.org) back in April 2018, there was a bailout package assembled by the Public Media Corp. (Marc Hand) that provided a loan to pay off ESB and build out the new 4TS facility.

I don't know why WBAI never filed for a license to cover (wait, yes I do - because Pacifica), but the old WBAI room at Empire is empty and the signal is coming from 4TS, and has been since last summer.
