A moment ago, the post said he was retiring. Now it says "...stepping down." Hmmm...
Please discuss where you think this takes K-Rock now, in the near future and beyond. Very interesting.
Oh. And Happy Friday!!

As reported by AllAccess.com

"ALL ACCESS has learned that a staff meeting at CBS/NEW YORK has been held to announce that Alternative WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK)VP/GM TOM CHIUSANO is stepping down. CHIUSANO, the long-time GM at the station, became well-known to listeners as HOWARD STERN's foil ("TOM CHEAPASANO").

More details as they become available here on ALL ACCESS."

Tracy Cloherty in the hizzy, CBS might want a share of the urban pie and we might hear "92.3 JAMZ"!

Countdown to the announcement of Tom Chiusano joining Sirius Satellite Radio begins...NOW!

They could be urban right now if they flipped before Power 105.1 came into town. CBS Radio does very well with Urban and CHR Rhythmic stations.

It would be fun to hear Howard goof on him again. The monotone imitation along with golf swing sound effects was always funny.

You do understand that there are practically very few white kids left listening to "urban" or rap music? You should check out Hot 97's and Power 105's basement ratings in the Nassau-Suffolk market.

ummm, the playlists of Z100 and WBLI are loaded with 50 Cent, Soulja Boy, Wyclef Jean, Chris Brown, etc and THAT's where the white kids are listening to urban sounds...and DEMANDING to hear it in the dance clubs

Yeah but thats because its mixed with a bunch of other songs(rock and pop)... its not a full blown hip hop station. Plus do we really need another Hip Hop station in NYC??

I don't think so, that would be a big mistake by CBS radio to do that. It just wouldn't make much sense..

Let's see now....Hip Hop album sales dropped by more than 40% from 2000 through 2006, and an additional 30% in 2007, while Hip Hip megastars like 50 Cent and Jay-Z struggled just to obtain platinum status for their latest albums...yeah, I can see your point that Hip Hop is a hot commodity among young white kids today. ::)

I wonder who's gonna replace him.
I'd Die (figure of speech ::) ) to get Piccosi from WCCC. that would be damn interesting!

[EDIT] Active rock is for retards with no money. Get it through your numb skull. Active rock listeners cant afford anything when gas is $3.50 a gallon. Give up. Just like K-Rock should give up playing Pink Floyd...especially another brick in the wall, that song is as obnoxious as youth of the nation.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Active Rock is the best format you can get. classic rock stations get boring, modern rock stations get annoying, Active Rock is the best because you got all of todays hard rock and metal music, and you can still hear the good classics as well, without changing the station. and mainstream stations suck because theres too much ***** rock like hinder and slower nickleback and slower daughtry, an no system of a down korn of tool

It's funny that you say that, because your favorite station, WMMR in Philly, matches this description. They play lots of Nickelback, they were all over Hinder a little while ago, and I can't remember the last time I heard either Korn or SOAD. Come to think of it, pretty much all lame Greater Media rockers (see also: WDHA and WRAT in Jersey) sound exactly the same way.

As for K-Rock: They need to change in the worst way. They need to be an excellent representation on how to program an Active or Alternative station. Bands like Arcade Fire, Bloc Party and Kings Of Leon can sell out concert venues all over NYC, but NO RADIO STATION PLAYS THEM!!!!! Likewise, the heavier acts represented on Active Rock have no one playing them either. K-Rock just sticks to their white-bread MOR chicken rock and wonders why their ratings can't even crack the 2s. Does CBS want to bury this station?
