Another thought is something I heard Shadoe Stevens once say. He replaced Casey Kasem back in 1988. You may also remember him as the announcer on John Davidson's HollyWood Squares. Currently he is the announcer on The late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Shadoe said that he was fired from AT40 because he interjected to much personality into the program. They just wanted someone to countdown records without the schtick. Just a toned down straight forward countdown. This is just one example of how management likes to kill creativity instead of encouraging it. So I can understand how it's not always the fault of on air talent to come across as boring. Sometimes that is exactly what management wants. This is also what happened to me. I wanted more personality in my show. Management wanted less. In the end I felt unhappy because of it and I chose to leave. So I think Management should appreciate creativity and reward it instead of killing it. Then maybe radio wouldn't sound so boring these days.
