There was a pissing contest in this thread? Also, there's a dance community? Oh wait... LOL! You almost got me! That's friggin' funny!
Dancerev889 is funny too! A non-comm making money, and trying to pass of his station as EDM. You guys should do stand up comedy. Seriously!![]()

Lets first talk about non-comms. If you had any idea about non-comms you would know that in Philly alone there are 3 non-comms pulling in over 2 million a year in underwriting alone and that does not include the radiothons. Those 3 are NPR stations and NPR costs over $50,000 a yearfor just some of their programming. C895 in Seattle pulls in over $150,000 for their radiothon and they are a non-commercial high school dance station. There are quite a few Non-comms in the country that make more than commercial stations. Religious stations are non-comms and they make a ton of money on them. So that one is now put to bed.
Now about Z889 not being a EDM, we are not, nor do I promote the station as one. We are a Top 40/dance leaning station. Do we play a lot of pop singles yes, but last time I looked at a dance chart most of the other stations are as well. Matter of fact if you look at the dance chart which is located at
http://www.fmqbproductions.com/dance/index.html , I think we are playing or have played 95% of the singles on there. So if that is the case then every station that is monitored on the chart should not be considered a dance station. If you look at our mixshow DJ's, I guess Roger Sanchez, Mike Rizzo, Judge Jules, Hed Kandi, Johnny Budz, Louie Devito, DJ Perry Christopher Lawerence and at one time David Guetta, I guess are not dance mixshow DJ's. Our station sounds like a northeast, South Jersey/Philly Top 40/dance leaning station. Thats my target audience.
Do I expect everyone to like the station I program, no and I do not lose sleep over it. What I do care about is the fact that the list of students going through our program are getting jobs in commercial radio and the students here are learning about an industry that I love. If you want to call us KTU thats fine because last time I checked most dance artists and labels want their music played on that station. So thanks for the compliment

You didn't need to list non-comm groups that hide money into bank accounts under dummy organizations. With that practice, non-comms make money. But non-comms don't make money. Get it?

Thank you. That's all I needed to hear or read from SOMEBODY on this board... A nice clear admission, "Yes! We sold our soul! It's all about the money, never about the music."
Dancerev889 said:First off its not about the money, its about teaching college students about broadcasting. The money we raise goes right back into the program.
Ill tell you what, since you dont understand radio, you can come to the college and take some radio classes. You might learn something. Also I havent heard the word techno by anyone in the industry for over 10 years

Like Brett (DanceRev) said, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is valued by many in the Dance and radio community (even if it's not Dance 24/7). You don't have to like it, but that's no reason to focus all your negative energy on this station.
