To Interested Parties: I was in the Radio Industry (South Florida) back in the 70's and have had it in my blood ever since. While I understand obtaining a station is a monumental task, It certainly seems like an Idea whose time is ready AGAIN. Think about the South Florida dial...........Nothing to really get excited about. I have got plenty of thoughts on this topic and the desire and passion to make this happen. There's no sense in kidding each other...........Big Idea's, and Big Money will be needed. Done properly this could be a huge windfall for participating parties. Only serious Inquiries will be responded to. I can be reached at [email protected]

Josh C. - Y-100 has a few openings from 10 to 1 and 1 to 4 during the week and pretty much all weekend long. Are you interested ? If you are then I can't help you much. Talk to Dan Mason. ;)THE MAJOR

Mmm... as long as they're under Clear Channel ownership, unless they're going to give me free reign over the entire station, I think I'll pass :DEDIT: Althogh, now that I think about it, with Mason at the helm, it probably wouldn't be that bad of a gig. But still... it's Clear Channel ;)

And what is so bad about that?? It's soo funny to see people on this board making comments about CC and have never worked for them. I have on several occasions and I would go back in a heartbeat, they don't dictate programming from a corporate level. Don't get me wrong, it is a business as it always has been, but they don't tell the stations on a local level what they are or aren't going to do. Besides, I've known Dan Mason for a number of years and he is easily one of the most talented PDs in the country. Y-100 will turn around sooner than later, and anyone that is on board with him during that time will look like a hero!! If you wanna bash a company for the way they handle their radio stations, bash Cumulus. What a waste of space those guys are, honestly if their investors only knew the way they treat their people and the total cannibalization they've done to the radio stations they own, I would hope their stock value would plummett.

I realize that, and that's one thing I've never claimed they do. However, there are many things about the company that turn me off, such as their control over the charts (and yes, they do have a ton more influence than anyone else does), their decisions on voice tracking and syndication in major markets, and the seemingly lax attitude toward pushing their stations in the right direction (just look at how bad Y-100 got before they brought Mason in).

Believe me, I believe in Dan Mason! The man knows what he's doing, and I have no doubt Y-100 will be back on top in the near future.

I couldn't agree with you more. They're a worthless, no-good piece of crap company, and any ill that comes to them is well deserved. Please don't mistake me: I'm not saying the same for Clear Channel. I just don't agree with them on enough issues that I wouldn't particularly care to work for them.

<<<<<<<and the seemingly lax attitude toward pushing their stations in the right direction (just look at how bad Y-100 got before they brought Mason in).It wasn't until after the GM..and OM... left that steps began to be taken to fix Y. If anything, some might say corporate didn't do enough to push forward changes, but that kind of blows your theory, huh?

It's never been CLAIMED that CC corporate does or doesn't do anything, except for the haters claiming said issues. And when you own almost all of the indicator stations that R&R uses for it's charts it's gonna work that way. It might seem like manipulation, but based on the formula that R&R uses, ithat's just how it works. Their "dictation" of voice tracking and syndication is made on the local level, the GM controls the budgets used to pay part-timers. With the advent of automation it allows a station like Y to hire TALENT to do SHOWS rather than waste the money on paying board ops. If you've noticed in the last couple of years, however, Voice Tracking has not been used nearly as much as in years past. There are a handful of radio stations that CC owns that still utilize the technology, but in most of those cases it's in VERY small markets or if it is in a larger market they are sticking with a personality that continues to put up good numbers, the money that would be earmarked for that particular shift usually gets split up between part timers. As far as the Synciation issue, the industry as a whole has done it to themselves. There is not a whole lot of GOOD morning shows available and those that exist on a local level aren't willing to re-locate. More often than not, companies other than CC have bred the age of the syndicated morning show by placing the Kidd Kraddick's of the world in markets that used to be a breeding ground for new talents. Unfortunately, it's the state of the industry more so than ONE company that has forever bruised the medium we know and love.
