Aparantly, the last episode of Train 48 will air July first on Global.
Anyone have any info on this? Why was it cancelled?
______________

Apparently by CP. (Not really, this is Canadian Press.)

Global says it is heading in a new direction; yeah more money.

More than likely it is the costs that are involved.

Re: Thank god. Finally

Thank god this show is going to be cancelled. I can't stand watching that show. I watched that show a few times when I was living in Toronto. Man, that show doze me off to sleep. ZZZzzzz!!!!!. I rather watch Degrassi the NG, or Metropia on OMNI 2 rather than Train 48. BTW, I don't missed the Global advertising last summer on the Union Station Subway station, talking aboot an eyesore with Gobal advertisement everywhere on the platform, ticket booth, and on the subway. Especially the Fear Factor advertisement.

I'd have to look at the ratings, and cost of production. If the two work well enough together, along with ANY free advertising for another global property, anything from passengers(extras) reading National post(Global owns them) to an ad in the background for global programming.

When the show first launched, I duely noted the ads for Fido in the background, and the tv ads that also aired, so they had a good idea for a joint venture there, and many free plugs for their other networks.

Heck, they even had Anwire Knight, a global weather person on the show. IF that wasn't a reminder to watch global for weather updates...what is?

Good idea, but Global has new plans I guess.
As long as is isn't reruns of BoB and Margaret, I guess I'll be happy.

Honestly, is there any programming left to fill the air time between commercials? :)

Can I assume that "Train 48" will be replaced by American imports??

Or will Global actually take the daring step of filling the vacated timeslot with another Canadian-produced program??

I'm actually expecting the 7-7:30pm week day time slot to be filled with shows from sister stations to BEST increase viewership on those channels.

Shows that normally appear on Prime, but I guess they could also concentrate on programs from their digital line up, and remind viewers that to continue enjoying that particular show, to call your service provider to order the channel.

That's what They did when Train 48 took a week off here and there in the past.
______________

"Global's New Entertainment Show"

Well, Global did its fall presentation today, and according to the press release posted on Channel Canada (link below, scroll about halfway down), they're developing a daily entertainment magazine (title undetermined) that will have some gossip reports and, in Global's words, will "go behind the velvet rope for insider coverage of all things to do with business of show." It didn't specify a time slot, but it sounds like it could be what "Train 48" tried to be... a dinner hour companion piece to "Entertainment Tonight."

And, depending on the time slot they put it in, also become formidable competition for CTV's "Entertainment Daily".

OR the newly remodeled A-list on Toronto one? (depending on when that will air)

It'll probably be just like First News in the 1990s, with soap opera reports and movie reviews. The only difference is that Bob Macadorey obviously cannot host now.

Re: "Global's New Entertainment Show"

Is "The Insider" (which runs back-to-back with "Entertainment Tonight" in many U.S. markets) being shown in Canada??

If not, maybe that will become Global's "new entertainment show", running back-to-back with "ET".

Yes, "The Insider" is a U.S. import, and would be the cheap way out for Global.

Global already has the rights to the Insider in Canada, and in the Toronto/Hamilton market it can be found on their sister station CH in Hamilton Ontario.

Global is launching a new Canadian entertainment program for the 7pm time slot to replace train 48.
______________

Thanks!

At least "Train 48" will be replaced with something produced in Canada.
