Train Wreck contest crash

Don't think John would, no, I know that John wouldn't have were he there. Which he wasn't. But the cause, the real problem, too many stations in one place with only one radio causes frustration. Paticipants probably just took it out on each other and got over it quickly. Lack of planning, seems to be a common thread across the company and on this thread.

Indebiz--sounds like someone is stroking their own ego. The new PD is going to have struggle and fight to get kmx headed back in the right direction. Remember the Princess is never wrong. People have tried to lead the Princess, the Queen, and just about everyone else in the building and have failed. One can hope and dream that kmx might someday reach the height of KMX, that it was.

ROLLTIDE--we wish this post was joke! But sadly its not and its the truth. Most of the talent in our building never heard of Radio 101.

PEANUT--think of the 4th color of the rainbow and 100.5 between the breeze and US100.

Welcome South Rolltide. Cool Edit was the tool of choice for the 'Old Guard KMXers' and was still used even after Styles bought it though they had to fight to keep it. But, now that the last "Old Guard' is out of the building....well shoot, there hasn't been a jock of that ilk on that board since John and Kelly didn't mess and he was forced to 103.9 over a year ago. So Cool Edit either hasn't worked or has had any one who could work it for a long time. Surely it wasn't being used out of laziness.

That's exactly why. Laziness, the Queen doesn't like it therefore her court doesn't have to use it. John Houston was the best thing in the Magic Kingdon, now there are only sad sad servants at her beck and call. The princess Galore serves the most now that the new PD is her morning show partner that she has such a distaste for. But correct me if I am wrong, she doesn't like anyone that makes her look second best. She didn't like John so off to the 70's-80's he went. I still can not believe they chose her version over his. In my opinion her mouth and her style is going to be the death of WKMX, what is was and what we all know it could have been.

Something else I've noticed with Galore is that she has a tendacy to say unnecessary & inappropriate things in COMMERCIALS. Two examples:

1.) Some commercial with some type of printing company in Dothan. Kelly and the woman from the store go back and forth talking about the business. Galore trying to be humorous makes a comment something to the effect of how the Store Owner doesn't do things for KMX till the last minute. Well it's not too big a deal I don't guess because the woman laughs with her about it, But you have to question how smart both of them are, you DO NOT EVER MAKE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT AN ADVERTISER IN A COMMERCIAL... NOT EVEN JOKINGLY! and if anyone at tragic knew what they were doing they would have advised the store owner that even though it may seem humorous that negative connations about her business in her commercial are in no way beneficial.

2.)Another commercial I believe it's Gilland Mitsubishi (Not %100 sure most of the commercial was not memorable) but it was some Mitsubishi dealer. Anyhow Galore starts off the ad with something about her and her friend both bought cars from the mitsubishi dealer. Then she ads in a comment that was I guess intended to seem off-handed and funny or whatever ::)... remember this is after she said her and her friend bought cars there....(paraphrasing) " Of course I didn't really have a choice because I wrecked my Mercedes" First of all you don't act like IN A COMMERCIAL that you HAD to buy from them..you act like you WANTED to buy from them. Secondly you NEVER EVER EVER...mention a brand other than the one your advertising..EVER..unless your comparing the two. Finally....Kelly NOBODY CARES THAT YOU WRECKED YOUR CAR..NOBODY.

It's just another Tragic Tragic story.

You are so right. I heard both of those commercials. I thought the same thing, especially the car ad, what! Gilland wasn't good enough for you, well Kelly you wrecked your Mercedes, then go buy you another one, oh yea wait a minute you are paid as a princess not the Queen you had to go to Gilland.

At nutfest, Tragic had 1 radio, and all the stations were rotating playtime in 15 minute intervals. Well one night 95.5 was out there for a remote and when their 15 minutes were up the jock got upset when, another employee changed to the other station. They thought they would solve problem by yelling at each other and shoving each other around. Finally someone got between them and they played nicely the rest of the night.
Let me guess it had something to do with Miss Goober Pollard and The Other queen in the building Kelly

The night went a little like this. The DJ working the tent was rotating all 5 stations every 15 minutes but 95.5 had a remote and one of it's Jocks, first name Wild and I'll let you guess the last wanted the radio to be on 95.5 during the whole 3 hours but the DJ working told him that he would switch it for him during his breaks and Wild didn't like that answer so he shoved the DJ IN FRONT OF THE CLIENT and of course the Queen being so open minded and looking out for all of her stations since she is the operations manager stood behind HER Jock and insisted that the radio be on 95.5 during the entire remote. Now there was also another of the 5 hosting a remote (not sure which one) but That did not matter because Pollard got her 3 hours of fame, forget about her other station. What happened next, well as they say in the Magic Kingdom screw up, move up. I heard yesterday Wild is the new production manager.

"Once upon a time in the far off and far out Land of Magic, there was a Queen and her little Princess. The Mighty Queen adored her little Princess and molded her into her image...Then two millenia and 7 years after the year 0, the princess wrecked her beautiful carriage... the Queen was furious and forced the Princess to ride amongst the peasants in a lesser carriage. The Princess no doubt furious vowed to bring down the Queens already crumbling empire..she would create incompetence and stupidity on a scale that the world had never known. Her plan in place the Princess one day greatly embarrased the Queens empire in front of the people of the Land of Wirey Grass..Upon hearing the news the Queen become enraged... nostrels flaring she rose from her throne opened her massive mouth agape and swallowed the Princess and her little friend from the Land of Buckeyes. Woe be to the subjects of the Queens empire..for your day is nye."

-Book of Magic, Chapter 13, Verses 80-83

Calls should be recorded or on a delay...

There is something to be said for flow when doing a morning show and having "as if" live calls.... cheapos Magic would never buy a delay, and morning shows suck when they're edited down to :30 per caller. Just play music... why bother anymore with personality. Suggestion to current morning show. Talk for :15 max, do your contests off-air, and just announce the winners name. NOW THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Giving away stuff is way overrated, but you won't be fired.

... I heard Kelly is a trainwreck, but so is that company. It really is cruel to see what's happening to radio in general. When you shrink the talent pool to only those who will work for 12k a year, and from 5+ employees to 2, this is the stuff you can expect. Ignorant DJ's, and poor management. The worst employees are the ones who can't realize they shouldn't be working for peanuts. (no pun intended)

You unemployed ex-radio "pros" really are making something out of nothing. The problem is an easy fix... no one will get in legal trouble. This is just another reason stations should just forget about giving away stuff... It's bad radio, and you get into all kinds legal problems. Just put everything on the website already. Get a syndicate morning show and be done with all of this. If your into radio for the profit in market 2000, why worry about this kind of headache. You could probably bring on 4 sellers for the price of a bad morning show. Get some part-timers and make them work for t-shirts. Stop hiding your teeth already. Those local businesses will buy even without the promise of an on air interview.

It's cruel to act as if you want "live" dj's and then treat them with disrespect and low pay. When you bring on a personality you have to respect what they do and direct them. I think every employee in magic has a termination file in which from the day you are hired they start filing things you've done to be fired. What a terrible working environment. They're already planning your demise when you shake their hand for the first time.

Get out of radio.

Radio is screwed. The ONLY savior for radio is the private ownerships that refuse to let the watered-down philosophies of the big companies take over. By 2009, you're gonna see the big companies use 1 jock to cover 3 to 5 shifts in various markets. By then, there will be no more than 2 jocks to every station, and that includes the big ratings winners that used to be fully staffed.

Somewhere down the line, money/profits became the focus of radio stations instead of serving the community. Folks like the Simpsons at WOOF are what the industry needs more of in order to help us remain a better choice than Sirius, XM, and Ipods for our listeners.
