I tuned in to Now 97.5 and I heard several songs that don't belong on an AC.
Beyonce - Single Ladies
Beyonce - Crazy In Love
Usher - Yeah
P Diddy - I'll Be Missing You
All American Rejects - Gives You Hell
Katy Perry - Hot N Cold
Pink - Sober

Now 97.5 was good last year before Christmas. It either sounds like a bad Hot AC or a bad Mainstream AC now, or an extremely bad CHR.
At least there's Christmas music to look forward to on Halloween.
 
I almost fell off my chair when I heard Fuel's Hemorrhage on 97.5 last night.

its a hot AC station. Those songs are very popular with soccer moms. Those look like all hit records to me and according to the mediabase charts

Sounds like they are positioning themselves between Q102 and B101.

Q102 played Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" 100 times this week and "My Life Would Suck Without You" 93 times... that's way to hot for the average soccer mom. A less repetitive 97.5 might be able to find an audience.
 
Mix 95.7 was a trainwreck without the rap songs. Now 97.5 is a trainwreck with rap songs.
It's sad that 3 years ago, Philly had my favorite AC station in the country (Sunny 104.5) but now I don't like any of the AC stations.
If I'm in the mood for CHR, I'll put on Q102. If I'm in the mood for AC, I don't want to hear songs I'd be hearing on Q102 on Now 97.5.
Oh well, I'll probably never find an AC station that will play Barry Manilow - Can't Smile Without You

Big difference was that Mix was going through PD's like they do underwear. Besides how long ago was that? There is a new generation of soccer moms now and they love this music. Go to a wedding or a nightclub that caters to an over 30 crowd and this is what you will see those soccer moms dancing too

Is anyone even going to know who these people are in 10, 20 or even 50 years?
 
Now 97.5 shifted from bright AC to a Hot AC format about a month ago. There was an article about the move on the main page of this website. So while some of those songs may not fit on a mainstream AC, they are certainly in line with what you would expect on Hot AC. I guess since Philly had no Hot AC, they saw this as an open hole to fill instead of bumping heads with B101.

Maybe the next "logical" step would be to add jocks so that there is *some* interaction between the station and the audience. Oh waiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttt that will cost dollazz and Greater Media found out that they can save a ton of money by voicetracking key dapyparts over in Jersey so why should they add jocks to an *evolving* station in a Top 10 market?? How silly of me...

You should listen to WDUV/Tampa online. You will enjoy it, they DO play "Can't Smile Without You" and lot's of other great AC classics.

I would DEFINITELY agree!! A SUPERB version of a Soft AC that pegs the key demos in the TB area. Simple, relaxing and easy presentation of the format gives it a double digit share book after book. With only having a "live" daypart (in morning drive) I can honestly say its one of the FEW formats/stations where the music and imagin work together hand-in-hand to negate the necessity of air-talent. Kudos to Cox for an excellent station!

Let's not forget that this is the same station that called itself "Smooth Jazz" and played Luther Vandross & Stevie Wonder!!!! The people in power have NO clue how to do their jobs, while those that could get fired to save money....WTF?????
 
Philly has some great AC radio, including 97.5. You've got WBEB for a traditional sounding AC, you've got My 106.1 for Rhythmic AC, 95.7 Ben FM for a Rock leaning AC/Adult Hits, and there's also Adult CHR 94.5 PST.
