Trainwreck 97.5

Yeah, I read that before posting. For purposes of relatability to the target demo of an AC station, Angel of the Morning is a song by Juice Newton from 1981. Few people had heard of it before then.

A disco song usually won't be a turn-off for an AC station. Songs like Shaggy - Angel would be a turn-off, especially for the soccer moms.

Not anymore. The song is 8 years old. A 25-30 year old remembers the song from when they were in high school or college (ages 17-22). Also, the hook is from a song from 1981.

People tend to forget that the soccer moms were in high school in the early to mid 90's. Those Shaggy records were a ladies favorite.

The original version of "Angel Of the Morning " was done by Merilee Rush and the Turnabouts in '67.

Of the people likely to be listening to 97.5 or 101.1, what percentage do you think know that version, or any version prior to Juice Newton's?

Having done some music research, I know that Shaggy song tests well. The P. Diddy and Usher cuts also score high. Even Fuel's Hemorrhage is typical on today's Adult Top 40. FYI, Beyonce had five number one pop hits (12 hits in the Top 10) five leading movie roles, two Golden Globe nominations and scored at least 5 or 6 Grammy Awards. Sounds like a star to me!

Musically, Now 97.5 is right on target, it's not a trainwreck at all. This is Hot/AC for 2009. Today's soccer moms are not as dull as you think they are.

The more I listen to NOW 97.5, the more I like it. Who is the PD? I sure Buzz Knight, at corporate, has a hand in it. Clearly a soccer mom Hot AC. As a former jock myself, I hate to say it, but I think listeners today find jocks to be more of a pain in the ass than anything else. Many of us on this board are/were jocks and it was all we could think of in our youth. We had heros. I think the tide has turned on that today with a few exceptions.
I even like their processing on 97.5. Does anyone know what they are running? I know BE transmitters are sort of the Greater Media preferred box, but I don't know if they have a preferred processor. They probably do.

I guess I just don't like the sound of 2009 Hot AC. I used to like the sound of 2006 and earlier Hot AC.
But surprisingly, I like the sound of SoJo 104.9 and Mix 106.5 in Baltimore.

I guess the fantastic Christmas music they dealt out last year won't fit with what they are doing nowadays :'(.....Although that gave them their biggest numbers....

Dance is a viable format. Pulse 87 got a 0.7 share in the New York ratings. That's with a bad signal that isn't strong 15 miles away and almost gone 35 miles away, and overloading interference in most of Manhattan, and on a frequency that can't be received on some radios. Z-88.9 made the Philadelphia ratings with a part time dance format and a transmitter 30 miles away in the middle of the woods.
Pulse 97.5 would probably do better with dance to itself than as a hot AC with all the competition.
If 97.5 ever flips to dance, would Z88.9 keep its dance format?

97.5 is not going to flip to dance. They are doing fine. Which competition are you talking about? Last time I check they were the only hot AC in Philly. Z88.9 isnt going to change its format. We are doing just fine.
