Trend is in...

Just based on what I have seen (12+ ::)), it would appear STAR went up. If the rumours are right, it was this station's numbers that CC were waiting for before they made a decision. Could their (CCLA management)attention turn to KBIG? Or, will Saul's entry into the Country arena be enough to cool any speculation?

I've been saying all along KBIG would go Country!

I don't know if you can make a judgment on KBIG right now. Yes, it was down, but if CC gives up, it could benefit KMVN - and send listeners over there. I am guessing at the three-month rolling, that KMVN's September must've not been good.

But that was pre-marketing and pre-Dees.

It was about 0.3 below the last KZLA month... not exactly bad for a soft launch. And it looked very promising in the target 25-44 female group.

Seems like a combination of Harvey, continued strong numbers for KHHT, and a consistent KJLH are making things rough for KKBT. And one has to question how well Joyner can work in all the traffic...

Hot shares little audience with 100.3.

And the real loser may be KJLH if the rumor of Cliff Winston going to do afternoons over at the "rumored" new "Mojo" (100.3) is true.

Mojo? You have got to be kidding me!

As for Cliff Winston, hiring KJLH to help your station ain't exactly a great thing either. Yeah, They're hoping to put KJLH out and mabye get back in the 2s, but still won't help them to "Beat" Hot.

Speaking of Beat, are those rumors still around of CC taking back the "Beat" name for 92.3?

It seems as if KBIG and MOVIN" won't be able to co-exist together. MOVIN" might be the USAs trendiest format right now, but let's face it most markets that get a MOVIN' type Rhythmic AC DO NOT have a pre-existing station with a similar format like KBIG. Maybe Emmis was gambling that CC would eventually flip KBIG? But if KBIG sticks with the format both stations will do poorly.

I noticed both stations were playing "Diamond Girl" by Nice and Wild at around the same time the other day. It's a great song and a true local hit, but when you start slicing that pie neither piece will be very big.

With only 4 weeks of Movin being on-the-air during this summer book, I don't think you can make a statement like that. And none of those weeks included Rick Dees debut which was hyped by all local english language tv and newspapers.

I expect Movin not only to steal from KBIG, which it appears in the summer book that it was already doing, but from KIIS as well.

The station that will need to change formats is not Movin but what will be left of KBIG. And I expect that to be less than what KLSX has now. Nothing like being at the bottom and that's where KBIG is headed.

Here's the L.A. Times liberal slant on the ratings http://www.calendarlive.com/printedition/calendar/cl-et-arbitron17oct17,0,2245842.htmlstory

MOVIN' may steal what little numbers that KBIG has left, but MOVIN' was just some executive's big secret during the summer book.
KBIG lost ratings in the summer all on their own... If anything KBIG's decline probably has more to do with all the songs they dropped to help sister station STAR 98.7...

There was plenty of sampling of Movin right off the bat. And now they have reacted at KBIG by basically mirroring Movin during the day. But they don't have Rick Dees and the constant publicity that Movin will get from his presence. All they have is Mark Kriski to plug KBIG (the only reason he's on "Disco Saturday Night").

As long as I'm slamming KBIG, what a great promotion they did all this year - giving away a car every friday. That sure has brought them some ratings...

But there could be things more pathetic than KBIG in this market. Look at KLSX. At least I must say CBS likes uniformity. Look at the ratings for their sister Free-FM in New York City. Nothing like being at or near the bottom. Hard to believe that KFWB and KNX now beat KLSX. And how much longer must we endure Adam Carolla? He was supposed to be gone before this book.

Don't be putting down Memphis.

Radio here in Memphis is for the most part better than in L.A.

I waited a while for the punch line...
surely you can't be serious [who'll say it first?]
I'm in Nashville, and don't have a dog in this fight...but Memphis radio better than LA?
Who are you listening to?
