Huh? The (unsubstantiated) rumor is that Bonneville wants to buying the Infinity stations in Phoenix (including KZON), not Sandusky's group.

Sandusky selling out?

It would be a surprise to see Sandusky sell its Phoenix stations, since they've had many chances to do so over the past few years. I could have seen a group like Infinity buy them, but now that its rumored that they want out of Phoenix, a group like Entercom comes to mind. I'm thinking Sandusky is holding out for a group to buy all of its stations in the two markets it operates in. However, I can't think of a major group (other than Emmis, who is heavy in debt and won't be buying anything until they sell their TV stations) which could buy the stations in both Phoenix and Seattle.

For now, I see Sandusky operating in Phoenix for some time to come.

EXCITING INDEED! The website just blew me away. Forget the future, I'm moving to Venice so I can live close enough to ride my solar electric scooter to my new job as a volunteer at the radio station of the future.

Anyone else care to join me? I'll be on the 6:45 Greyhound to LA from the 32nd/Sky Harbor Blvd bus station of the future. If you miss the bus, you'll find me selling hemp sandals & henna tatoos at the beach.

A programming excerpt from the KRCW website:
-
radio drama:
Innovative productions of classic and contemporary literary works--including Ten By Maugham, Jewish Stories, Ross MacDonald's The Zebra-Striped Hearse, and Walter Mosley's Black Betty--highlight an award-winning roster of productions.
-

If this is the future of radio, could someone please put me in touch with HG Wells? I'll be in need of a trip back in time.

I was just going with the prior posts thought of "what if" Bonneville went after Sandusky....though Bonneville does have the capital to buy them out , and it would give Bonneville entry into another major market (IIRC, Sanduskys other stations are in Seattle...)

As far as Bonneville going after Infinity (the rumor usually involves a trade of some of the Bonneville St. Louis stations to Infinity for their PHX properties) their corporate ethos again might interfere.....does KZON (even minus Stern) fit with the LDS church? Unless you blow up KZON or nueter it.....

Well, they really won't have to worry about Stern for too much longer, now will they?<P ID="signature">______________

Bonneville would have the same moral dilemma with the Sandusky stations as they would being the owners of KZON. Maybe even worse considering the personality of KUPD and what KZON will be without Stern.

However, the Seattle stations of Sandusky would fit perfectly with Bonneville, although they already have been in Seattle but exited the market when they sold the KIRO stations a decade ago.

NOT THE STATION. ..THE SHOW, MR CARLSON.

JASON BENTLEY SHOWCASES THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE.

WHY DO ALL THE HIP & TRENDY RETAIL / RESTAURANTS PLAY CHILL MUSIC ?

MAYBE NOT ALL OF 'EM; IF THEY'RE NOT LISTENING TO CHILL MUSIC..

THEY'RE LISTENING TO 98.7 THE PEAK.

NOTICE ALL THE CHILL MUSIC ON TV / RADIO ADS ?

TV / RADIO STATIONS ARE USING ALOT OF DOWNTEMPO DRUM & BASS, TRANCE AND TECHNO FOR THEIR PRODUCTION.

I WONDER WHY ?

No they're not! What the hell are you talking about? I do production for a radio station - I know what I use. It sounds like you got some selective hearing going on in that brain of yours.

And, if you have to define yourself as "hip" and "trendy" you are, by definition, not.

Amen

Ummm. YEP. Uh Huh. You're right on the money NoDice87. The biggest radio experts are: wannabes, groupies and wedding/bar mitzvah dj's.

By the way, who determines what is hip & trendy? I think hip is hanging out at Makudu's Island with my kids. I think trendy is where has beens that never were and always will be hang out.
