Anyone know the dirt? Don't want to wait until 4pm, and my friend with access is out of the office today.

Did hear that WWTQ...didn't show.

Just saw R&R's 12+, and that's affirmative on the WWTQ no show. Going home now, to check the couch, for Diet coke and Steak money... CFKane

We're sorry, CF. Should we take up a collection?

Yo, CFK - tell ya what, how about we invite JD along and I'll buy the beer. This was a friendly bet. Really. Someone figure out the venue & time.

You got it. I will ask him, and we'll do it, I'll buy first round, at least.

At some point, since most of us who have been around a while, on this board, know each other, or have an idea, we should all get together at some point. I know DESECHADO, and meep meep, wouldn't require too much pressure to go. Radiosaur already is going to the "bet dinner". DeltaKing, you in? Radio trash talking is so much better over a pint. Just a thought... CFKane

Now there's a capital idea.

Of course, you'll first have to discover my secret identity to invite me...

Hmmm... email me sometime. I would love a tour at your job. (Assuming you are still at Bellevue?) I hear it's absolutely state of the art, especially the TV side. [email protected] CFKane

I'd be interested in that brew!!I looked for you at the big Ripley/Munford game.
Bratton..."over a pint" and "brew" suggest that the gathering may take place in a location not usually haunted by those of the Southern Baptist persuasion (hahaha)-Sometimes it's good to be a Methodist. There's amillion jokes there, huh?
As for my secret identity...I really don't think mine is very secret.
Turns out I'm quite the Roadrunner fan (what with the TATTOO of him on my arm and all, AND I do a pretty decent impersonation of him.)
So to assume I was making much of an attempt to hide who I was...well, you and anyone else that knows me, will realize that I'm not really like that.
Why hide who I am?
I mean, is somebody on this board going to get mad and fire me?
Are they going to kick my butt? I think not in both cases.

BTW, did you know that the new Pastor is from Dyersburg and has many relatives right here? I watched him last Sunday before we left and enjoyed the sermon.
Somebody had to try to replace Adrian someday.

Wow. A no-show. I almost feel sorry for you CF, even I didn't expect that. So when does Frank sing again on the 10 KW blowtorch? I'm in on the dinner.

BTW Desachado can tell you who I am if he hasn't already.

Gee, I wish I had been involved in this discussion all this time...here I am about to leave Memphis and am just getting in on this. Well, sucks for me, especially missing out on the beer thing.

Don't know why anyone is surprised that TQ was a no-show. There is no audience for white liberal talk (especially when you put on an African-American liberal in PM drive??) in Memphis. Even if there were, Air America is not the way liberal talk will succeed in this business. From day one, AA has thought it was all about politics. It isn't. It is about entertaining the listener. And I miss Frank on 680...used to help put my little girl to sleep each night.

You mean you can't lullaby your little girl with the dulcet tones of Mike Malloy prattling about the "murdering bastards in the Bush crime family?"

If I'm not mistaken, the standards played on 680 garnered about a 1.5 to a 2 share.

Air America and Leon Gray net a big zero.

WWTQ is getting outranked by country stations in Jonesboro, Tupelo and Blytheville, as well as oldies coming out of Colt, Arkansas.

This is the same station that boasted "Look out Rush, we're coming to get you."

The clock is ticking on how long Entercom wants to feed Leon and his kids, and get nothing in return.

Actually, it was LYING BASTARD, most recently. Cannot fault Malloy for telling it like it is. After all, 62% of Americans agree with that notion, in some way.
Maybe Adult Standards did okay, in it's day, but obviously not well enough.

Hmmm, how many of those 1.5 to 2 points broke into adults 25-54?

Yeah, in one month, you are correct. I have already conceded my part. That being said, one month, of a 12+ trend, don't enjoy it too much.

> This is the same station that boasted "Look out Rush, we're

And the same station, that held a funeral for Fleming. A bit that Fleming responded to, in all of it's pathetic glory. Fleming brought marshmallows to a firefight, with his response. Sometimes when you have nothing, you've got nothing to lose. Attack WREC with impunity, it's entertaining, even if it's without merit! Radio 101...

Gee, how pleasant, Mr. Majestic. Guess we know what side of the fence you sit on politically. I agree with "Cockles". Talk radio is about entertainment. That's why Glenn Beck is so good. I have already eaten crow, with WWTQ. I still contend it's gonna do well, once the mighty black jack dealer at Arbitron gets some diaries to Midtown, the station will surprise you.

Anyone who thinks liberal talk won't find it's audience, (even if it isn't WWTQ) needs only to find a Bush related poll. More and more liberals are being formed daily. The longer Bush is in office, the more democrats are being registered. It's bad when Savage, and Ann Coulter are jumping ship.

Also, Shelby county is inherently Democrat leaning, even before Bush's Second term started. If WWTQ fails, it won't be "lack of POTENTIAL audience". That portion of the cume, is growing by the minute. The fact that you jump on this thread, weeks late, and nearly take a personal swipe, at Leon, suggests, WWTQ offends you. For that reason alone, it's got more reach, than you admit to. CFKane

Maybe you failed to notice the quotes around what Mike Malloy said. Quotation marks -- in case you skipped English class -- indicate EXACTLY what was said. How about a little wager of a couple hundred bucks. I'll be happy to play you the tape.

680 flipped to "Progressive Talk" on January 28. That gave the station over two months before the spring book started. The station pulled a meager half share during its honeymoon book. Now even that tiny audience has gone bye bye. Why bother to point out that it is a 12+ trend. What part of 0.0 was 25-54?

You're right. It's so entertaining that ... nobody listens!

Oh, sure. Now it's diary placement. Maybe they should hand out diaries at Al Franken's next breakfast.

Geez, speak of Radio 101 ...

When did the Limbaugh show enjoy record success? During eight years of Bill Clinton.

Entertaining and compelling talk radio will succeed regardless of who is in office.

Sabre-rattling from the lunatic fringe will fail regardless of who is in office.

This from a guy who spells Majestic, as he does...

You taped it? Jeez, save some typing, and just admit, your only posts on this board, are to hate on 680. So far, that's been your purpose. Take the 200 bucks you wish to wager, (I don't doubt your right, BTW) and buy an FM receiver, or something. Hating on Liberal talk, that was so "done", back in July on this board.

> Hmmm ... how much of that 0.0 falls into 25-54?

So already, the same as it predecessor, sadly. Look at the last book Easy 680 had, and break it down to adults 25-54, and there's your 0.0. Hence the flip.

> 680 flipped to "Progressive Talk" on January 28. That gave

As much as you have so diligently been paying attention to the station, that number is not accurate. I think we need to get YOU a diary! I have conceded the station is not doing well, but it's was not a factor as EASY 680 either. Not in demos that count. You are currently correct, in that Adults 25-54 is bad now. ( A fact you obviously love.) So enjoy that while it lasts, the beauty of 0.0 in a book that doesn't count, is there is no where to go but up.
>

> You're right. It's so entertaining that ... nobody listens!

Not true, you listen, and you have tape and 200 bucks to prove it!

> Oh, sure. Now it's diary placement. Maybe they should hand
> out diaries at Al Franken's next breakfast.

You don't think it's a factor? Have you been anywhere near Midtown. Been to Cooper Young? Like it or not, the station is known there. Those non existent White liberals are there in droves, and it is indeed, a factor.

> Geez, speak of Radio 101 ...
>
> When did the Limbaugh show enjoy record success? During

Oh, so it's floundering now? Rush was successful pre Clinton too. I just wonder how much Oxycotin played in his success? I wonder if EIB traced it down to rating points per pill?
>
> Entertaining and compelling talk radio will succeed
> regardless of who is in office.

On that, we agree. Just because conservatives don't find it entertaining, doesn't mean others won't. I concede again, that WWTQ has a lot of ground to catch up on, to succeed. That being said, pull up numbers on KPOJ. The model of what AAR can do, when it reaches it's audience. Believe it or not, this (Portland)once was a strong market for Rush, and his imitators, for years. Probably still is. (just not as good as it used to be.)
>
> Sabre-rattling from the lunatic fringe will fail regardless
> of who is in office.

Do me a favor, tell that to Michael Savage, and Sean Hannity, will you? Sabre Rattling obviously works for them. In Hannity's case, a blatant disregard for the truth, is a selling point as well.

We can continue this, if you'd like, Mr. Majestic, however, I have conceded the parts you care about. So enjoy, and toast the lack of success coming from WWTQ in this, the all important Summer Trend. You predicting it's total downfall, and failure, if that proves to be true, great. After that, we can celebrate the fact, that even drunk drivers make it home safely some of the time, too. CFKane
