Tropo Last Night?

Your talk station austen is out of Crystal River i'm pretty sure. I dont get that here due to W259AS translator, but if you go just a little tward belleview then it can be gotten with fading.
Of corse you'd probably get it with a directional outdoor antenna.

I wish the northward FM reception yielded better results from my home base in Palm Beach County. On occasion, I can get 97.5 WPCV/Winter Haven, but I have rarely picked up Tampa stations. It was fun DX'ing for a night in Orlando...

oups.... i did not mean 5000000 from that last post. my stupid screen reader messed up. i meant 5000. sorry about that. 5000000 watts? lol, that would be insane.

oh man. the bannd is wide open tonight 4.29. anyone got some good catches besides me? i have 2 in question for you guys. first 105.5, i heard covers of young mc's bust a move, lean on me and ke$ha's tick tock. any ideas? i think i heard an id but it was coming in bad so i did not make it out. st augustine? i know it's not the dove. i thought st augustine was either rock or oldies? may have to cut the radio on again after this post to try to figure it out. next, country on 102.5. either a reach fm translator from palm coast catching someone or that station from nc with a strong signal but i thought they were soft rock? sorry guys, have not dxed for years and i'm getting back into it. anyone got interesting catches?

oh yeah. i'm in altamonte btw. the only thing i miss about palm bay is i used to make crazy catches over there.... i had nc coming in down there all the time. back then i had my grundig/eton e10. no one could touch that radio. the best radio i owned. thinking of finding one off amazon / ebay. i have the g8 traveler which is ok. but i really miss my e10. as close to a car radio as you can get.

Could've been 105.5 WBTT out of Naples.

...had a contest winner from Ft. Meyers one night when I was on the air at BJ-105...(lol)...

well guys. it turns out that 105.5 was indeed st augustine. turns out they're running a glee radio format. very interesting. i figured it was st augustine but it really caught me off guard. anyway,i'm getting the Tecsun PL390. seems like a good radio. i love this time of year because of tropo.

well that 102.5 out of nc is soft rock. so i'm still curious what was the country music on 102.5? tampa did come in but i manged to block it out for the country. i'll admit i did not listen long enough to figure it out what it was. the only thing i can think is that reach fm translator from palm coast was catching someone playing country. that has happened on the 104.5 translator heer in altamonte.

hey guys. you may want to get your radios at the ready tonight. i just received y 102.5 and star 99.7 from nc. i'm thinking we will get some good tropo tonight. i'm ready for it. got the tecsun pl-390 ready to go :).

yes. the 969 from ft mires is ac. i think the call letters are wink. that station has a monster signal... looks like palm beach is blasting into altamonte tonight. but don't worry, i'm not done dxing :D!!!!!! i'm so glad i got back into it. i love the pl-390.... it re-ignited my love for dxing.

I live in West Virginia but my parents who are now deceased lived in Orlando...I remember in 1991 traveling to Orlando I think in October and getting Mix 105.1 and what was then Cool 105.9 Clear as a bell in Columbia,South Carolina...That was of course tropo.....I picked up some Florida E-Skip last summer here in WV...One night it was first Central Florida,I remember WHTQ 96.5 for sure...A little bit later South Florida kicked in...I remember Power 96(WPOW)..93.9 MIA and West Palm's Sunny 104.3.....I am right now listening to 105.9 Sunny FM online...Love the mix of 60's,70's and 80's.

Hey guys. It's finally time to bring this back. :p It has started for me this week. Last night and Monday night I was receiving south Florida pretty well. I got the usual 103.7 and 99.7 but I also heard x 102.3 and stuff like that. 106.3 from melbourne was coming in like a local last night. Normally I cannot hear them very well here in Altamonte.

From Miami-Dade/Broward.....the Space Coast seemed to be a magnet last night....WEJF 90.3 overtook WAFG w/ mention of a Cocoa church.....I think 99.3 with AC was in, but 99.3 is an IBOC freq. here. Was getting Q104.5 Charleston SC on my car radio---OVER a local pirate AND Sunny 104.3 IBOC!

Also a new DTV, WJWJ DT 44/16 SC, along with Cuba on analog chs 3 & 5. Hope it keeps up!

Check your analog TV's for Cuba, guys. The TV DXn hobby did not end in 2009!

99.7 Jack FM in Vero is always strong, get them outside of Jax, down to Ft. Lauderdale. 107.1 in Mekbourne is strong too. The other day I got Chuck 101.7 from Charleston, SC on the way to Daytona. 102 Jamz kicked in when I hit Deland/Daytona, right near their tower in Orange City.

This morning my car radio was booming. Usually if I have it on WXCV 95.3 I can press the up button and my radio will sometimes stop at 96.3, followed 97.9/ Tampa and then 98.5 KTK. My car radio would stop at a total of 2 or 3 stations when flipping stations from 95.3 to 98.5. Today it flipped to this many.

95.5 Ocala
95.7 WBTP Tampa
95.9 Some Christian Station
96.1 Tampa
96.3 Citrus County
96.5 Orlando
96.7 Inverness
97.1 Tampa
97.3 Gainesville
97.5 Winter Haven
97.9 Tampa

You dont use manual tuneing ?

I do when I'm dxing, however not when I'm in the car with others or driving. Its best when driving or with others in the car to not fiddle with the radio. Usually in that situation I try to find a station with a good signal and keep it on that. Which is for the most part a toss up between 95.3, 98.5 and 106.3. Sometimes 105.9 if I'm heading out east towards Orlando.
