Well it was in the QC Times that Cumulus has changed the format of AM 1170 to Scott Shannon's True Oldies format.
Let the speculation begin.....
I think it is a good idea as it will now force Clear Channel to make a decision with their FM properties....
If people will flock to this true oldies on AM, which Cumulus gets on a heritage signal, they have to decide what they want to do with KUUL FM. They will lose ratings as it stands with KUUL, so either KUUL goes backwards into the 50's and 60's, away from the 70's and 80's it features now to take them on and keep that audience, or they stay the course and take a hit.
Either way, Cumulus wins because if KUUL follows the true oldies format path backwards, then 97X will pick up that audience. If KUUL ultimately does change format, Cumulus gets those listeners by default, and then they will have to protect, in my opinion....B100 when ...101.3 KISS FM debuts.
