Am I the only one who thinks it's a HORRIBLE fit for TV Land?..does anyone want to guess how long before "Just shoot me" gets buried at 3am like so many TV Land/Nick-at-nite shows??

Let's take bets. My vote 4-6 weeks

It belongs on Nick and Nite. And, that's being generous. Typical flub by Viacom when it comes to their management of TV Land. Then again, they seem to have no interest in maintaining the integrity of that (or any other) channel.

Extreme Makeover, movies and now this?!? What a mess TVL has become. A total shame because the channel once held such promise.

I agree. Just Shoot Me, the movies (that run all over other channels) and the reality shows on TV Land just suck.
Plus running the good stuff (Leave It To Beaver, Gunsmoke, Andy Griffth)into the ground. But they must be making money with this crap or they wouldn't be doing it. I watched All in the Family the other morning. All the spots were AARP endorsed. Let's face it. That are not going to be bringing in the revenue they want that way.
I don't know what the answer is but I can tell you I will not be watching any of the Just Shoot Me marathon.

And there's so much potential, too!
Here we are in the middle of a writers strike in rerun city, and TVLand is sitting on this gold mine of classics from the 60s and 70s. At a time where you'd think they could make such a great appeal as an alternative the networks. Instead, what do they do, run a TV show that itself barely lasted 6 season, and has only been gone about 3 1/2 years?

As much as I hate to admit it, TVLand has run its course. Its a shame, I still watch TVLand a lot but they are ruining it.

Well, it's just like AMC airing Catwoman again. CATWOMAN?????? An American Movie Classic??? What next? Hey, It's Pat!?... Well, at least Pat is older and more near the "classic" age. The ought to start a new channel and put them on it. CMC: The Crap Movie Channel. It'll NEVER run out of movies!

Whoever came up with the Just Shoot Me concept ought to be shot. Actually, though, it's not any worse than all the other original-to-TVL losers that the network, channel, or whatever it calls itself has put on the air. TVL is a programming idea whose time had come...and is now gone.

Next thing you they'll be showing re-runs of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy ::) Whining er, Designing Women is bad enough. I hated that show when it was current. I doubt if there is anyone on the planet that that thinks that is classic TV. Concerning Just Shoot Me, David Spade was only marginally funny on SNL. Most of the time he was flat out annoying.
About the only reason to watch Just Shoot Me would be to look at Laura San Giacomo ;) That could b accomplished with the sound turned off since the show was not very funny to begin with.

Im guessing we can't do the same thing that happened to WCBS-FM to TV Land by leaving TV Land with classic shows. Looks like we can only have one. Also CBS controls radio while Viacom controls TV Land.

It gets even better. This afternoon they ran an episode of the CMT reality show "Goin' Country", where D-list celebrities compete to see who can make the better country-western record (Maureen McCormick is one of the contestants, so there is a classic TV connection).
Yes, it's gotten so bad they're now running their sister networks' reality shows.

Why don't they just flip the channel to something else and call it a day already. It's like they are a classic TV cable network that doesn't want to be a classic TV cable network. Switch to something that could rival ABC Family... Perhaps Viacom could swap The N to where TV Land, so The N has more households.

Let WGN and the other cable networks that are better or could be better at running classic tv reruns (for the older audience) take on the classic shows.

It's as if they are doing just that--s-l-l-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-l-y moving toward movies and other fare. Your idea of just flipping from what they call classic TV to whatever TVL really wants to be is the way to do it. The powers that be seem to think that inching toward a new TVL is the way to get it done without anybody noticing. Everybody knows--including the fact that "classic TV" went out of the format a long time ago. CALLING programs classic TV doesn't MAKE them such.

It's time to stop treating TVL like a cute puppy with the mange.

I vote last week. That would have stopped this event now showing!

At the end of an episode I noticed that Just Shoot Me is syndicated by The Program Exchange. Here's a link to the list of their live action series: http://www.programexchange.com/programs.asp?category=2

In looking at their website it appears that several of the live action series they have listed are on TV Land or have been at some point in time:

227
The Addams Family
Benson
Just Shoot Me
The Munsters
What's Happening!!

Here are the series that haven't been on TV Land to my knowledge yet:

Bosom Buddies
Charles in Charge
Coach
Gimme a Break
Newsradio
Taxi
What's Happening Now!

Could it be that TV Land has a deal with The Program Exchange and they are eventually going to show the remaining shows as well? Out of that list the only ones I'd want to see on TV Land would be Taxi and Coach.

If "TV Land" wants to rerun more recent shows, why don't they create another
channel designed for shows from the 50's, 60's and 70's, and have the other
one for hits from the 80's, 90's and the first part of this decade?
As far as movies, let their other "Viacom" cable networks show those.

You can strike "Taxi" from that list. It was part of the schedule with Happy Days and the Mary Tyler Moor Show (among others) in '96.

I also recall the new What's Happening! airing on TVL as well. Newsradio currently airs on TBS.

As mentioned in a previous post, Coach reruns would be an ideal fit on ESPN Classic. You just know that network is eventually going to be tinkered with.
