I'm hoping the wave of the future will be like from AOL tv. I found the site and they have a lot of the old shows, not the entire series, like "Alice," and "Gilliagan's Island" (including the original pilot) and the Looney Toons. The gimick is you can play them via the Internet in good quality or pay (I think it's $1.99) to see the shows in DVD quality.
Yeah I miss the old days of USA "Up All Night," but that has gone the way of vinyl records and anthology shows. I think there is a market, as I've said before, I listen to a LOT of old time radio shows, and when I play them at work, while I'm working all the young kids come into my office and just listen. So they are still good entertainment, but kids I guess thrive on more. Because while they certainly enjoy listening to the OTR with me, they never would go out and check out any of the tapes from the library. Thank goodness I live in Chicago and the libraries have HUGE selections.
I guess in many way this change is the same, as I find these OTR shows like "Amos and Andy," "Mr and Mrs North," "Jack Benny," and "Our Miss Brooks," far cleverer than any TV show that ever aired. So I guess it's the same thing, just as Old Time Radio disappeared, the good old days of Nick At Nite are gone forever too.
