TV SHOW FOR BILL O?

I'm curious to hear what Brad Riter thinks about Bill O's show going "prime time" so to speak.

Give Bill credit - the guy has connections and can sell ads.

Speaking of Brad, what's the story these days with him and Nick? Any update on their job search?

Interesting stuff from Pergament's blog:

Bill O’Loughlin is going to get some help when his talk show moves Sept. 6 to noon weekdays on Channel 2. Lydia Dominick, who was the host of Channel 2’s Lunchtime with the Classics, is going to be part of O’Loughlin’s show.
A Channel 2 release noted that Dominick is “a social media guru” who “will bring her quick wit and irreverent style to the show.”
Who knew? It wasn’t as if Dominick had time to illustrate her quick wit as the host of “Lunchtime” or as the former CW 23 spokesperson.

Lydia's stunning, but she sounded stunned when she tried to ad-lib her way through traffic reports on Channel 2 while filling in some months ago. The combination of her & Bill might be Train Wreck TV. Or, she may blossom as a second banana. The fact that Channel 2 is putting them on at Noon simply indicates that they've abdicated that half hour to Channels 4 & 7, who won't see any reduction in their new audiences.

Train Wreck City is right!

Bill is as farty and old school as they come. His "conservative" posturing won't leave any room for a woman's perspective.

I love two kinds of TV: the very good and the very bad.
I've gotta set the TIVO!

I do give Ch. 2 credit for trying things. That midday show with Janet Snyder a few years back was a disaster too, and thats taking into consideration that she is significantly easier on the eyes than Bill O.

Grandpap and his grand daughter. Should provide great material for every professional and amateur comedian within 90 miles.

The show has tremendous potential on the comedy scale. If people think "Winging It!" is bad, the interaction between Lydia and Bill will certainly top it. She's a very good looking girl, but her acting skills/ability to read off a teleprompter are on par with those in the adult entertainment industry. I personally can't wait for the show to start.

I'm bringing back this topic because Billy O is in the news today. It was only a matter of time. But O'Loughlin is giving up his Channel 2 gig. Apparently, he didn't like having to compete for airtime with his new left-leaning co-host. Stefan Mychajliw will be replacing him on the Channel 2 show starting this Monday.

Billy told his friends on Facebook today that the decision was his, and that he prefers to work alone, as he did in radio. It was fun reading all the a**-kissers who responded, telling him how good he was and how much they'll miss his show. Oy vay! One guy even mentioned this will put Channel 2 back in the basement. Yeah, right! It was O'Loughlin who put Channel 2 in the ratings basement at 12 noon. The station's news is number one in many other timeslots and is giving Channel 4 a run for its money for overall news supremacy. If anything, this change could help the ratings for the 12:00 hour at Channel 2. I have no doubt that Stefan and Kristy will be more watchable than Kristy and the old guy.

Stefan intrigues me. He was a spokesman for the failed Chris Collins campaign. Now he's a spokesman for the Niagara County SPCA and that big controversy. And he's just landed this Channel 2 gig. He calls it a partnership between Channel 2 and his new ad agency. Still, I don't know how he balances this all without being over-exposed or creating some conflicts of interest. I'm not a big fan of Stefan, but again, I do think he will be a better fit for what Channel 2 is trying to do at noon.

As for Bill, where does he take his huge ego now? Will another TV station give him a shot? Maybe WBBZ. As for radio, he has no where to go. He burned bridges at WBEN and WECK. So, we'll await this next chapter for Bill.

Sheesh. Now Channel 2 is recycling Stefan Mychajliw? Well, at least he's not pretending to be a reporter this time. That cat's got more than nine lives.

Channel 2 certainly does seem to be challenging Channel 4, and Channel 4 is responding by losing talent and cutting staff. Maybe the big new set will help, but I'd like to think that the set is less important than the talent. Guess we'll see, huh?

As for Bill O., he was unwatchable. He's also unlistenable, but Entercom will give him another run if he's got money to spend. Nothing puts out a bridge fire like the liberal application of dollars. Remember, WBEN is the station that PAYS "Kathy from Williamsville" to suck up airtime.

Ditto ROX!!

But this is a radio board, after all!! OH MY...how radio is so inter-related to TV in a market.....na, nevermind

Seriously?! Is anybody surprised that the Bill-O TV Show is smoke? It was must-not-see TV. Did the suits at Channel 2 really believe they could pair a guy with three chins with a woman who looked like his grand daughter, and attract viewers? Bill's money talked. Viewers walked. Here's Channel 2, smartly programming for 18-49's in mornings and at 6 p.m., getting great ratings, yet conceding the noon news block to Channel 4 and 7 now brings back Stefan "Can-I-please-buy-another-vowel-for-my-last-name." This ought to be fun to watch. And not just on TV. At least the suave Ukrainian is in the demo. As for Bill-O? Somewhere. Somewhere there's a radio station that will put up with his pompous attitude and sell him a few hours a day. Hello, WJJL? Perhaps a return to Genesee Street, depending upon which way the breeze is blowing.

There now, heydey. It's a radio post.

Bauerle just mocked Bill O'Loughlin AND Stefan Whats-His-Face on the same segment and also threw in a cheap shot at Channel 2 for hiring both of those guys for a format they don't fit.

Bill is a financial expert. Stefan is a public relations expert.

THEY ARE NOT GENERAL TOPIC TALK SHOW HOSTS!

Bill O is still defending himself, saying it was his decision to leave.

That may be true, but sometimes a resignation happens because future termination is in the rear-view mirror.

Bill O is done in this town for radio or TV unless he can put up some decent $$$ and promises to talk about his area of expertise - finances - and nothing else.
