tv shows with movies as episodes

Potter also admitted that he'd had a longtime crush on Doris Day, and had seen all of her movies..alone, because he never wanted Mildred to know about his 'secret crush.'

Wasn't there a 1951 movie titled "Superman and the Mole Men"??

I believe it was split into two parts (it ran just 58 minutes), about six or seven minutes were cut from the film, and aired as a two-part episode of the TV series during it's first season (filmed shortly after the movie was shot; but not broadcast until 1953).

Yes, that movie was essentially the theatrically-released 'pilot' for the TV show.

...as I recall, Branded had at least two (and possibly a third) trios of serial episodes that I suspect were created to be edited together and issued as feature-length theatrical films in other countries...

Serenity (Firefly)
Veronica Mars (Upcoming)
Beavis and Butthead Do America
Star Trek movies
Head (The Monkees)
Reno 911: Miami

The syndicated "Dusty's Trail" with Bob Denver had 3 or 4 episodes edited together to make a feature length movie (the name escapes me, although I have it on a $1 DVD). I really don't know if it was for theatrical release or a TV release.

Some other suggestions, but there are a lot of these and perhaps someone else already has lists compiled: The Muppets, Star Trek, The Man from UNCLE, Peanuts.

Several Man from U.N.C.L.E. movies were created by editing two-part episodes together with some minor new footage; if I recall correctly these were primarily shown in Europe, not in the U.S.. I don't recall any theatrical release made from episodes of the original Star Trek series; both pilot episodes were used in the series, if that counts. Much of the original pilot, The Cage, starring Jeffery Hunter as Captain Pike, was ingeniously incorporated in the two part episode "The Menagerie". The second pilot, with guest stars Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman, became the first season episode Where No Man Has Gone Before.

The 6 Emergency! Movies (Steel Inferno, 220, Medic One, Greatest Rescue, the 2 SF Movies) made after the series is often cut into 2 part episodes for syndication.
The short lived Planet Of The Apes series was put together as new movies in the Planet Of The Apes series.
Quincy ME started out as one of the NBC Mystery Movies before becoming a weekly series.
