Tweakin' Sunny 105.9

While we're on this fantasy, reunite them all at 810 and let them turn that waste-o-space around if at all possible... If it works on AM, bring it to FM... ...Yeah, I'm putting down what I'm smoking right now.

After about 2 weeks of hearing many stiff disco songs...music rotation seems to have been straightened out...the quick jingles don't help flow though.

It's whats between the music that makes the station. It's all about structure and speed that is dayparted. This target demo wants to be youthful so keep it uptempo and fun without being too talky. And produce the entire sound so that it is unique like nothing else in the market. It's so easy even a cavem...............

1:46pm Thursday: Sunny FM starts a stopset...11 spots and almost 9 minutes later..the pay-off: Young Heart Run Free by Candi Stantion and I Only Wanna Be With you by the Bay City Rollers...oh wow (and not in a good sense).

11 spots in a row!!! Advertisers 5 through 11 should cancel. Musically, is there any payoff after an 11 spot assault?

Two stiffs after an 11-unit stopset won't last long...new cluster GM Dave Robbins has considerable programming experience. Maybe now Sunny will get around to hiring a fulltime midday talent...watch your back Rick Stacy.

Ditto for me, Rick, and I already work for the company.. ;D

I heard Backtrax USA Sunday night at 10pm-ish. All 80's.

Listened quite a bit this past weekend. Haven't decided on Domino yet, but I was surprised that Adam Alexander is a decent "boss jock". Music selection for the weekend really worked for me too.

I was listening to Sunny a bit this past week while in Florida, and I like the new imaging, jingles, and overall presentation. But I don't really care for the playlist. Personally, since they are using 80's CHR jingles and presentation, I wish they'd move more into an 80s based format and dump the 70's stuff. After all, we are once again entering a new decade and 1980 is 30 years ago now. Also, hasn't Orlando always been known as a "young" city. So, wouldn't it make sense for the classic hits station to lean a bit younger than in other markets (like WCBS, WOGL, etc.).

Anyway, I was impressed with the new "energy" and overall presentation, but musically, I wish they would move 5 to 10 years on up and focus squarely on the 80s CHR sound. (Think Y106 and BJ105, and recreate that sound musically, as they've done with the presentation).

Hate to dig up a post from long ago...but looking back now, it sure seems that Rick Stacy knew what he was doing with Sunny. I cant imagine the station enjoying the success it has with the lineup from 2 and a half years ago. What we all thought was a dull CBS oldies station really is something special now.

They clearly know what, how and when to tweak as needed. Love the sound, imaging and overall execution. Not many great sounding stations like this anymore. Was wondering, do they ever voice track or is everyone live all the time, even weekends?

Spyder Harrison is tracked out of New York for nights. I hear the weekday guys on the weekends, not sure if they are there or not.

Spyder Harrison is out of Miami... and there is imaging that says it's the only station fully live on the weekends "technical difficulties" and all.

Sunny-FM is probably the most upbeat/aggressive/liberal/variety-driven classic hits station that CBS owns. Much more than WRBQ down in Tampa. They certainly know variety. I've heard early 60s and very late 80s. Pretty cool listen!

Average age in Orlando is 41 years old. Seems to be positioned right where she needs to be.
