TWISTER

This from RadioInfo's morning email:

What’s next for Citadel’s “Twister” in Dallas? A whole lot of anxious waiting, for now. CEO Farid Suleman let a large feline out of the bag in Thursday’s conference call when he suggested that something’s up formatically at country KTYS (96.7). ABC had long used the station as a blocker for big-sister country KSCS (96.3) – which just scored a low 2.3 share 12+ in the Winter Arbitron. At a guess, the folks inside the station that Victor Sansone’s now running didn’t know much about a potential change until the call.

When will this happen and what will they change to?

I read that Jeremy Robinson is over at KSCS now too. What shift is he doing there?

Who's left? Peck's out, and I believe Crash is the sole survivor. Perhaps he could change his name to "Crash Kraddick" (ya know, like country crooner Billy "Crash" Craddock) and get himself ready for the next format? Unless it goes True Oldies, which is a jockless format the last time I checked...in that case, time for a trip tot he dumpster to look for empty boxes. :-[

So can we expect a Memorial Day flip?

Finally. Frequencies can come back to life after being formatically challenged black holes. 97.1 is back after useless jabbering in Spanish, and any time a country station drops country it is similarly good.

NOT a good idea with that limited signal.... (Although it is almost 100kw, it doesnt even cover all of Dallas county)
Also, CHR requires a good chunk of change to market, promote, and get talent for... something I do not forsee is Citadell wanting to spend a TON of money. Look for a "True Oldies" clone... Makes sense, LOW overhead, and it may be able to knock KLUV down a few notches.

Where's Allan Peck II?

It would be nice to see Kiss get some competition at some point.

My sources (pretty close) say he's resigned to futher his voice over work.

I wish him the best in his career.

Are you talking about Allan Peck?

Speaking of Imus... I noticed a billboard on Airport Freeway near 360 that has been "wrapped" with Star-Telegram ads for years... Anyway, it is uncovered now and you can read a really old ad that reads Imus in the Morning 94.9 FM. When was this? I don't remember him being on in D/FW? What was the format on 94.9 at the time?

I think that was in the 1996-97 interim between the post-All News KEWS and the swap with KOOO/KGBS-1190 when 94.9 became KWRD.

What about Top 40?

Twister is a real rimshot; it can not possibly compete meaningfully with Kiss, KHKS, the CHR in the market.

Check your field strengths, David - its placement was a masterful stroke - about the only place where it suffers is Mesquite and South Dallas. I get HD with no problems 50 miles away in Plano - that ought to tell you something about their signal right there. The tall stick and high ERP, combined with flat terrain don't hurt either!

Yes, I agree. I live by DFW airport, right in the middle of the metromess. Twister is the hottest signal by far.
