Twitch coming to KFOG.

Update: This explains why he's still tweeting from his other persona, Twitch: Someone on KFOG's Facebook wall has commented that Twitch is saying on his facebook page (Twitchradio) that he'll be on the air in Lexington, KY tomorrow after their morning show. The time of that would overlap with his KFOG shift, so I assume he's still going to voice track the "inner 13 year-old" for them while suppressing it in SF.

I'm starting to wonder whether DC had any say in this at all.

Word is that Tony was "handpicked" by the Cumulus CEO. Seems to make sense.

I'm leaning towards thinking that Melanie was DC's doing. Not sure about Greg. Anyone with more definite info feel free to correct me.

Yeah Twitch is still part of the morning show on the Cumulus rock station in Lexington Kentucky along with ManLove and Shortbus at least he's still on the station's website.

Listened this morning....felt like I was in Jacksonville or Phoenix or some other non-descript location. This show is not going to work and will fail big-time here. It's amazing how these big companies (Cumulus) have no clue about the local populace. I get the idea of trying to fix sliding ratings, but sometimes it's better to be happy with what you have....vs. what it's going to be. It will be interesting to see how the KFOG morning ratings do in 6 months. I'm predicting and acceleration of their decline. Unfortunately, this will likely lead to a format change and the overall death of KFOG. Very sad.

Tony/Twitch and the Kfog Morning After Pill Show continue to get slammed on Facebook. Funny to watch Twitch backpedal on the Kfog Facebook page, basically throwing his old sidekick "Kramer" under the bus for all the heinous, nasty things they said and did.

"Twitch, did you say drivers should door motorcycle riders?"
-No, that wasn't me that was Kramer!

"Twitch, did you host a Straight Pride Parade?"
-Yes, but that was to show solidarity with the gay community!
*cough BS cough*

The "my retarded son was molested" prank calls are the worst though. Mocking disabled kids?? Shame

They're doing prank calls on KFOG? When did they do that!!?

One of KFOG's FB commenters is claiming that he got an email from someone at the station that Tony/Twitch was totally DCs decision. Still not sure I believe that.

I also can't believe the barrage of negative comments KFOG is leaving up on their FB page. Twitch, on the other hand, is deleting the negative comments on his page, according to some posters. After he posted that he'd moved to "San Fran" and someone corrected him that locals use the full name or SF, he blocked them.

Can someone in the know comment on whether the previous morning show ratings really had been on a slide? This seems like a huge shift in tactic and over correction.

Indeed, I also understand wanting younger demos but "younger" doesn't have to equal "dumber". Surely there are unemployed thirtysomething radio folks out there who can have an on-air conversation without sounding like they're auditioning for a spinoff of Jersey Shore. This thing is a total miscalculation/train wreck that has become a news story, and not all publicity is good publicity.

One problem that Constantine & Twitch didn't seem to anticipate is that you can't just move to another market and re-invent yourself in the internet age -- anyone can google you and find out every awful thing you've done in the last 25 years.

Agreed. According to Twitch, Lew Dickey handpicked him. This makes sense—Dickey picked Twitch, but publicly is allowing Dennis to take the credit, I mean FALL for it not IF but WHEN it fails.

Poor Dennis. I don't think the fogheads commenting on the KFOG Facebook page really understand who this Twitch guy is. They know he's a schlock jock but haven't actually heard the garbage he's known for. When they hear the homophobic and cruel prank calls they'll go apeshit.

Exactly. And that's part of the reason fogheads are so irate--Cumulus / Dennis thought they could pull the wool over their eyes and essentially bury Twitch's past and reincarnate him into Tony.

Twitch has been steady deleting Facebook posts where listeners have been exposing who he really is. He's also blocking those users. He'll ultimately win and they'll probably change format to go along with their new identity, but we're keeping him awfully busy for now. It won't be the stealthy transition they'd hoped it would be.

I've been a seven days a week, all-day listening Foghead for 10+ years, so this has been a punch in the stomach for sure. With the help of this board, I'll find a replacement. Currently it's Spectrum on XM. They're filling the void nicely.

Snowman, I recommend KOZT in Mendocino, WEHM on Eastern Long Island or The Peak (WXPK) in suburban NY, all Triple-As that are more in line with what KFOG used to be.

"Twitch" is out -- Constantine apologized on the air this morning ("we messed up") and brought in Tim Jeffreys (ex-K-Fox) as the new morning host, promising "Intelligent radio". Greg Gory and Melanie Annoyingvoice still there.

Fogheads are singing "Ding Dong the Twitch is dead".

Lew Dickey is in town which always makes employees paranoid. Will Dickey take credit PR blame for either change? Or maybe he just fires PD Dennis Constintine and makes him the scapegoat.

Two weeks, wow! Now, I know why I didn't pursue a career in radio. As bad as the original choice was, I give management credit for bailing on the concept, however, whoever thought 'Tony, Melanie and Greg' was a good idea, probably needs to get fired. These things have to cost Cumulus a fair amount of money. Great to hear that 'intelligent radio' is back at KFOG. The Bay Area is a unique place that has a large populace that is highly educated and can handle sophisticated things. There needs to be a radio station that caters to that group. KFOG had fit that bill for many years. Hoping it can continue.

Constantine insisted the new morning show was his idea and his alone, even tho' word was that Tony Longo was "hand picked" by Cumulus. Whatever. "Twitch" will be dining out on this story for years. He'll go back to KY and tell all his redneck listeners what hateful a-holes San Franciscans are and they'll eat it up.

It's all Nancy Pelosi's fault....
::)

Easy on the insults, Mike. Twitch is a talented DJ, but obviously, as with other DJs, is more popular and widely accepted in one area over another. No, not all Kentuckians are rednecks, so you can get that stereotype out of your head right now. There are many insults and stereotypes we could throw out about San Fransciscans, but I will refrain, as I want to keep peace. Please be nice. I agree that Twitch moving to SF was certainly not the best idea, and I commend him for giving it a shot, but we've all got what we want back now. He's back where he belongs.

Tony/Twitch was on the air for 11 days.  I wonder on what day they decided that they were going to back out?  When did Dennis stop defending the new show?  Since they had someone else ready to go on day 12, I'd have to think that Tim Jeffreys must have been in consideration before and came in second place.

Someone must have known that this had a significant chance of not working out (maybe Twitch), otherwise I think they would not have kept the KY job open and running concurrently.  That made no sense.  Makes you wonder why KFOG didn't just bill it as a trial for a week or two and give the others they were considering a tryout, too, like they did for the news slot last year.  Would have saved a lot of grief.
