Twitch coming to KFOG.

Constantine insisted the new morning show was his idea and his alone, even tho' word was that Tony Longo was "hand picked" by Cumulus. Whatever. "Twitch" will be dining out on this story for years. He'll go back to KY and tell all his redneck listeners what hateful a-holes San Franciscans are and they'll eat it up.
Easy on the insults, Mike. Twitch is a talented DJ, but obviously, as with other DJs, is more popular and widely accepted in one area over another. No, not all Kentuckians are rednecks, so you can get that stereotype out of your head right now. There are many insults and stereotypes we could throw out about San Fransciscans, but I will refrain, as I want to keep peace. Please be nice. I agree that Twitch moving to SF was certainly not the best idea, and I commend him for giving it a shot, but we've all got what we want back now. He's back where he belongs.

Well of COURSE it's a stereotype -- and yes it works both ways -- but my comments are based on things said by his fans on his Facebook page. A lot of ugliness being spewed (by both sides) in that forum. And seriously, if you don't think he'll make hay out of this experience, think again. If nothing else it will be his way of distacting his old audience from asking why he wanted to move to SF and become a completely different person in the first place. ;)

I've no doubt his shtick works on a young-male-skewing rocker in the South, but still, I'm baffled as to why the Cumulus bigwigs think he's some sort of "next big thing". The reaction here was not so much "we loved Webster/we hate Twitch" as much as it was "we like being talked to as intelligent adults", which was not what was happening on KFOG's attempt to clone Sarah & Vinnie.

Tim Jeffreys had to be in the mix but isn't a big name that gets press like Twitch did. Dennis Constintine just wasn't aware of his assets cuz Dennis isn't an SF person. Tim will be great at this.
But Mr. Constintine is a dead man walking. The ratings have been dropping steadily since he took over. He changed themusic taking it to just another modern AC like Alice as he is oblivious to the unique identity of KFOG. Just went to what he thought worked in another market. Then blamed it on the morning show and fired them only to step in a hole with the replacements.
It's not a matter of If he gets fired it is a matter of When

I dunno. They wanted younger demos, and that's what the music tweaks have (more or less) accomplished, even if the cume has gone down. It isn't just KFOG, it's Triple-A generally that has suffered at the hands of PPMs (something Constantine learned about too late at KINK). The consultant-approved solution to that, unfortunately, is repetition -- and songs that KFOG spins 5 or 6 times daily (Gotye, Black Keys, Fun, Of Monsters & Men) are getting played 10 or 12 times a day at Live 105. But I honestly believe the Twitch debacle was foisted upon him by Mr Dickey.

And according to what Jeffreys said yesterday, he and Constantine have worked together before.

Wrong. The ratings have gone up since he took over; it's only the last two months that they've trended down. (And the last book, 2.6, is still in line with the ratings KFOG were getting *before* DC took over, which were mid 2's.)

Mike is right -- DC has worked with Jeffries before, in fact DC hired him at KBCO in 1980. http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/107116/kfog-revamps-morning-show-again

"Twitch" is out -- Constantine apologized on the air this morning ("we messed up") and brought in Tim Jeffreys (ex-K-Fox) as the new morning host, promising "Intelligent radio". Greg Gory and Melanie Annoyingvoice still there.

Fogheads are singing "Ding Dong the Twitch is dead".

What if KFOG hired Hammerin Hank(myself) to do mornings?

Then maybe we'd be saying "Hank just got hammered" right now? ;)

Snowman, I recommend KOZT in Mendocino, WEHM on Eastern Long Island or The Peak (WXPK) in suburban NY, all Triple-As that are more in line with what KFOG used to be.

Thanks. I've been listening to KZOT and they're a nice replacement. KFOG dumped Twitch, but I'm proceeding with caution as far as going back.

KFOG actually had it made,
But far too many at the top,
To condone what they've been paid,
Have remade it into a flop.

-- miss ya, Morey, Finch et all.

Speak for yourself. The time spent without his ignorant crap spewing out of my radio were blessed relief. As much as I wouldn't want to inflict him on SF I'm sad he's coming back here.

I gave the "new" new Kfog morning show a chance and it's duller than dishwater. I don't think they even allow Melanie on the mike anymore--she's that bad. As much as I didn't care for Twitch's schtick, he certainly didn't deserve to be thrown under the bus by Constantine (in Ben Fong Torres' column)--"I listened, in horror, and realized this was not a good fit." Overall it's a pretty damning piece as far as Dennis goes, though I'm sure he doesn't see it that way.

All good things must come to end as the saying goes, and when Dave Morey left, I knew that would be it for the morning show. It would be better to have a dedicated Foghead do the morning show even with no on air experience, it would still be 10x better than anything they got now.
