Two odd things I noticed with WMMR in overnights...

I don't listen to much radio between 12a and 6a, so I haven't really checked out WMMR since they went jock-less in overnights about a year ago. Was out last night and two things really surprised me:

No WMMR "new music" sweeper before new songs?
For two different "b" or "c" rotation songs, they just played standard 'MMR IDs between the previous library cut and the new song, not the "MMR New Music" style sweeper they've been playing for years. I could understand that for their heavy rotation cuts, but why wouldn't they use that same presentation in overnights that they use for the other 16 hours of the day?

Went right into the 12:50am stopset without any sort of ID?
They went right from music into spots without any sort of "More 'MMR Music, Next..." style sweeper, which really seemed odd. Are they just going straight from songs into spots all night long?

Just seemed odd for a station like 'MMR to just throw the overnight hours against the wall like that and not have a more polished presentation. I mean, they could create a single "More MMR Music... Next" sweeper, use it 2x an hour for all of the automated hours and call it a day.

Or, did I just happen to catch an hour where someone didn't insert what they were supposed to into the schedule?

I think most of the employees of WMMR dont really care. If you listened to the show the following days after they fired Jaxon and got rid of the overnights, you would have heard the tone. They DJs show quality hasnt gone down, but the stations not the same. WMMR should never be left jockless. Its been manned 24/7 since the beginning. The best time to call in and get on the radio was overnight. And there use to be a deeper playlist at night a lot, similar to Pierres show. Those days are over. You can thank the major corporations for that. They dont give a **** about the loyal listeners, and why should they. Theyre getting their money and to them, thats all that matters. Even still, i believe WMMR is the best and most unique rock station around. I hope it sticks around for another 55 years.

I was observing the playlist and noticed that they're playing "new" tracks every third or fourth song during the overnight hours, so adding a new music sweeper 3-4x per hour would be redundant.

I went into Center City yesterday evening. As soon as I emerged from the subway, a man was using his key fob to lock the Tesla he had just parked. He turned and we shared the sidewalk for a moment as we walked in opposite directions. It was Pierre Robert.

Never met Pierre in person. I would love to tho. Abraham, can i get another laugh react from you? It would make my day.

You disappoint me. I was expecting to be berated and belittled a little more than that. I think you are losing your touch. You’re not getting soft on me now are you?

The funny thing is that it's not the first time I've witnessed this. Many years ago, I saw him do the exact same thing...but it was a much more-expensive looking car. Slid into a spot right in front of the bar, hopped out, locked it, and walked straight into the place. Took him all of 30 seconds. Parking in the city hasn't been that easy since probably the Depression, so the dude has some kinda magic!
