Unique OTA situations

Montreal is fully bilingual whereas Quebec City (and surrounding areas) is pretty much French only.

Cable in Montreal has BIg 4 + PBS from Burlington
Cable in Quebec City has no US nets

Thanks for the info.

Quebec City...I can remember going there once on a school field strip and at the time the hotel we stayed in had one TV set per-floor !! I remember one of the other kids turned it on and at the time at least one US station was available there. Since this was in 1979 I can not remember what station it was or even if that set was hooked up to cable or got it from OTA. Oh yes..I do remember being in a cafe overhearing the radio playing Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy"...in French. We had thought that was hysterical.

On the other hand I can see the Buffalo stations getting a chunk of viewers from Canada. Is there really much of a difference programming wise outside of news between say CTV or Global than it is with CBS or FOX ??

There is a HUGE difference in programming between Canadian and American
broadcasters. When there is a program like the SUPERBOWL, Canadians overwhelmingly prefer to watch on American television with it's better coverage and better commercials. In addition, Buffalo stations have many subchannels offering programming and choices
Canadian stations cannot match. Toronto is Canada's #1 market.

Quebec City does have the Big Four from Burlington, but high up in basic:
50 - WCFE (PBS)
51 - WVNY (ABC)
52 - WPTZ (NBC)
53 - WCAX (CBS)
54 - WFFF (FOX)

Hockey Night in Canada... ;)

CTV & Global is mostly programs from the US networks with Canadian commercials inserted (simsub).

CBC, on the other hand, airs mostly Canadian-produced content, hence its more widespread availability on cable in the border areas of the US

According to RabbitEars, Cortez, CO has translators that provide the Big Four from Denver, Salt Lake City, and Albuquerque!

According to the FCC data base that's pretty much true. Notably absent appears to be:
KCNC Denver. There is also a station from Grand Junction, CO KGBY available..

KCNC is available according to RabbitEars as one of four subchannels (the other three being ABC/FOX/NBC Denver) on an independently owned translator.

Very Interesting.... The SouthWest Colorado Translators Association appears
to own and operate more than 25 translators covering the Cortez area. I
cannot help but wonder what they use as their sources??? The only other
O&O translator I could find, Rf50, is by KOB, Albuquerque. Also, cannot
help but wonder what The SouthWest Colorado Translators Association
has for it's funding source(s)????
