Upcoming Format Change at WRQR!!!!

I've heard that 104.5 is suppose to pick up what WILT has on right now, and that
98.7 would go "Spanish", but if it turns out 104.5 would go to the format that
occupies 105.1 in Havelock, it will surprise me, besides, with the retirement
population in Southeastern North Carolina, a station like that would be a plus.

New calls for 98.7

100000watts.com is reporting that 98.7/Jacksonville has changed calls from WILT to WLGD. I guess that could stand for "La GranD" or Legends 98.7. I don't have any info...just wondering out loud.

Is it me or does Next changes formats on one of their stations every other year. Every time I get down that way it seems something has changed and not for the better either. I guess they think they have to change out formats like they do billboards. Must be a wonderful company to work for. ???

You are right. There has been way too much change. Time will tell if this latest go around will be for the better. If they are going the Spanish route, it makes sense. As one that that lives here, I can attest to how quickly the population has grown. People seem to like to work for them, but the word is they are tough operators.

I spent a little over 7 years at Rock 104.5, and I can't even find the words to express how sad it makes me that it is no more. When I started there, it was just after sign on, it was me and Laura K Smith...memba her??? I chose to leave after 2+ years of the Next debacle. Nothing was the same, the entire market was altered from the Next buy, and my passion for it was diminishing at a rapid pace. So, I left, not just Rock but the business of radio as a whole. I miss my show. I miss the Rock listeners. I miss the days of Gregg, Jimbo and me (although Rocky at times, we had a lot of fun together too). I always thought Rock was so good, because of our friendship with the listeners. It was a party, that sadly ended. I spent 3 years In upstate NY at WDST. While I was away JT joined the team at Rock, and I was lucky to work with him upon my return. He had so much passion for the business, and for Rock...people like him are hard to find, and anyone would be lucky to have him on their team.
